  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Adventist Church operates more than 170 hospitals around the world. Whatever and wherever they are - private hospitals in metropolitan areas or mission hospitals in rural areas - Adventist hospitals all serve the same purpose: "to make people whole."

In the South Pacific, Sydney Adventist Hospital has been serving its community for more than 100 years; Atoifi Adventist Hospital in the Solomon Islands for the past 38 years.

Sydney Adventist Hospital

Sydney Adventist Hospital is located in Wahroonga, Sydney, Australia. It is the largest not-for-profit private hospital serving the North Shore of Sydney.

The hospital cares for more than 40,000 in-patients and 170,000 outpatients annually. It offers acute surgical, medical and obstetric care, including complex cardiac and orthopaedic procedures. It has cutting-edge, acute-care facilities such as a state-of-the-art Cardiac Cath Lab, an urology laser, a 16-slice CT scanner and a 1.6 Tesla MRI on-site.

Outpatient services include physiotherapy, radiology, ultrasound services for women, pathology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, dietician services, health assessments and an on-site family medical and dental centre.

The hospital, in conjunction with Avondale College, a Christian tertiary education institution in the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, offers a bachelor degree in nursing, giving students an opportunity to gain practical experience.

The church also operates clinics and health centres in remote areas of the South Pacific - mainly in Papua New Guinea and in the Solomons - providing a positive difference to community health.
