Forgive me for probably sounding so ignorant:blush: but I really just don't know...
Do Protestants celebrate advent? If you do, do you use an advent wreath?
Hi there!

Some Protestant churches do use advent candles/wreaths, and some do not. It is an individual preference.

In my home, we use an advent wreath/candles and do daily devotions that related to the Christmas story and the first coming of Christ.

Looks like you got the answers you were looking for. Just one more twist - I was raised Methodist, so we did celebrate advent and had an advent wreath at church and at home. I now attend a church that does not officially celebrate advent, but I still have the wreath at home, and we have our own family advent celebration. I like the meaning. I like the tradition. It will always be a part of our home.

I don't even understand what the point of advent is.
Advent is a time to prepare mentally and spiritually for the coming of Christ. It is a time of reflecting back on the first coming of our Lord when Christ was born in Bethleham; and a time of waiting and looking forward to the return of Christ, so that when He does come again we will be awake and waiting, and He will not find us asleep.

Advent is the time when we wait in anticipation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. It is a time (as everyday is) to read our Bibles, say extra prayers, and reflect on the amazing gift that we were given the day Christ was born.

On Christmas, God sent His Son. Advent is the time we prepare to receive that blessing.
