  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Actually, check at your community college. Ours does not require a high school diploma or a GED...you just have to be over 18 and take placement tests. I might pursue that by taking one class that I was very interested in (you will do better if you actually like the subject) and see how you do. Honestly, what do you have to lose? Go for it.

Otherwise, do it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain and it will never be a better time than right now. The older you get, the harder it will be to swallow your pride and do what you need to do. Good for you and I wish you luck.

I believe you can finish high school courses at some colleges so that you don't have to worry about that big of an age gap! From there you can enter into a program at that college! I would see if you could get an advising appointment within the recruitment office of a college you are interested in! Good luck! God Bless~

My post echos BlackRibbon's. Check with community colleges to see what their requirements are and whether it's possible to simply take the GED or placement exams rather than receiving a high school diploma. Some four-year universities are also willing to take students who haven't graduated from high school but have work and personal experiences they feel helped to prepare them for college study.

Some programs are online, which could be helpful if you're self-conscious about being older. My nana is now teaching a few classes online through a state university, and she has students of all ages and from across the country.

You'll never again be as young as you are today, so if you feel too old now think of how you'll feel in a decade's time. Take advantage of the present. If you get a degree now by then you could be putting it to valuable use.
