  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just saw another persons thread it's a couple down. But it made me think is adoption ok?I would think so god wants all children to have a mother and father. What is everyones thoughts on this?

It's absolutely OK.

You might want to look at Rodney Stark's work on early Christianity; the early Church actively adopted orphans who had been left out on the street and abandoned.

Back in the 1st century, the Romans had a practice called "exposure". If a woman had a baby, the Father of the family (Pater familiae) had the ultimate say on whether or not the family kept the child. If they already had too many kids, or if the baby was a girl and the father wanted a boy, the baby (not more than 8 days old) would be placed in a large pot, and left out on the kerb of the street (exposed) to die.

The Christians of the early church found this offensive and regularly claimed such infants whenever they found them.

I've adopted two children from Guatemala. It is certainly OK.

Let me think, Moses was adopted by the Pharaoh's daughter. I believe Samuel was given to Eli to raise by his mother.

And then there's that whole passage in the NT about us being adopted into God's Kingdom.

There's more, I'll have to look them up.
