• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

:help: Help!! I accepted Jesus almost 2 years ago and still can't quit smoking pot! It's a very regular thing - I smoke between a few and several times a day! I spend over $200/month on my boyfriend and I's habit. I've been smoking for 8 years and have often felt that it isn't such a bad thing but I know God wouldn't want me to use it in the extent that I do . . . I tried NA but I have a hard time making personal connections with new people. Members of my family use it, too and I worry that our relationship would become detached if I quit. It feels like I don't know how else to relax or have fun and when I am sober and not working I am totally bored and clueless! Any advice???

Nope, you're not alone. I'm not usually one to give in to peer pressure, but it's so different when it's your family. I'm going to attempt to quit again this weekend. It's going to be hard and I really, really hate to get distant from my family, too. I guess I'll have to stay away from them for a little while. <sigh>

I stopped smoking five years ago. What helped me and this is the hard part. But I disconnected myself from my brother who smoked with me all the time and he still smokes. I found myself a partner in my wife that has never drank or smoked. Really helps having her around. Because there is never that urge.
I know those are extreme things but thats how I stopped.

That GOD can help if we REALLY wanted to.
I know I wouldn't stop because every excuse I had said " It's not in the bible"
That's why it took so long.
I"LL do some praying for you both.

God can remove these things from us if only we are truly willing to give them up. I've been sober almost 4 years
