  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have heard a lot about rubber stamping as a hobby. I have some rubber stamps, but only use them on occasion. I have known some really dyed-in-the-wool rubber stampers, and they can actually make some beautiful art.

I collect rubber stamps. I have a box of them and lots of pretty colors to put them in. I like them a lot too.

Hi Kaylee,
Glad to hear you like crafting. :) Do you make things with your stamps? I usually make cards. At Christmas time I try to make a card to send to friends and family instead of buying them.

Hi

I have loads of rubber stamps, but I don't use them very much at the moment. I make a lot of greetings cards, and use peel off stickers, embellishments and other things like that, 'cos they're quick, easy and I can do them in front of the tv.

If I decide to go upstairs to my craft room, where it's cold, and do some stamping, I usually get quite into it. I like embossing, and the different effects you can get with different colours. I have also experimented with brayering, and just started using chalks. Masking is rather more complicated, I find, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it one day.

I enjoy rubber stamping. I've done mostly cards and gifty things, not in my scrapbooking. However, rubber stamping, like most of the hand crafts I do, it's a mood thing and a time thing. Lately crocheting and some knitting has been winning out over anything else. I was in a stamping club for a while, where you attend monthly, make enough cards for each person and exchange and purchase a stamp a month and learn new techniques each month.

I agree there! I do a Christmas card each year. About 40 on my list. It is time consuming and I try to figure out in the late summer what I am going to do. So by the time I am finished I have quite had enough of rubber stamping for a while.

I did Christmas cards one year. And I've high hopes ever since, but they've never materialized. I even have some cardstock stamped for coloring and cutting out, but they've been with the paper for oh, about 2 Christmases now. I guess it's the planning ahead thing. I don't like thinking too much about Christmas in late summer, infact right around the end of October I get in the frenzy of Christmas presents to make and go spastic from there. I definitely understand and I admire you for getting them done.

Anyone else out there like to rubber stamp? One day I will upload some pictures of my cards, if I can ever get around to scanning them first. Would love to see samples of anyone else's work!

Well I have some examples on my website, and had wondered if I could upload them here, but I don't know how to.

Good question! I am not exactly sure myself, which is probably why I haven't bothered to scan any of my cards. Maybe some kind soul who reads this post and knows what they are doing can help us out! :help:

Hey, wait! I just had a brain wave. :doh:You could post the address to your website and then everyone could just link to it and look at the examples there! :)

Ok, well my website is www.mecrafts.co.uk. There are some examples of my cards on the page "me and my craft", and some of my cross stitch pictures in "cross stitch gallery". The cards aren't brilliant - it's not actually a display of my best work or anything, more like encouraging people who are ill that card making can be really easy to do, and why not have a go? I need to update my site soon anyway, so may have some more pics then.

I like stamping. I use it with my scrapbooking a lot. My mother uses it more than I do. We have a HUGE collection of stamps, and they KEEP on growing. It's kinda shamefull. ^^;; *L*

I went to my first "Stamping Party" last Tuesday. Stamps are so cool! I ordered these really neat ones that are simple shapes like balloons and flowers and such. Not a very good explination but you maybe get the idea. They are definately something I could get into for card making and scrapbooking!

I have a bit of a rubber stamp collection. I mostly make cards or bookmarks and such. I like embossing and using water color pencils. I don't get too fancy. I've done the christmas card thing before and it does take a lot of time. I've also made note cards or stationary as gifts for people. It's an easy and creative gift to make.
I would have more stamps and accessories if they weren't so much money.
oh and stamping parties can be fun! Even if you don't buy anything you can at least make a neat card or something.
