Was having issues getting a proper sight picture with my match gun at the last couple of GSSF matches so I thought I'd experiment with adding a cheap reflex sight to my G29 and trying it out.

The mount was $20 and the sight was $40. I sighted it in yesterday and am a bit leery of it as the POI seemed to not be too terribly consistent. But, I like how I was able to more quickly acquire a sight picture when bench shooting at 25yds.

I have a match this Saturday so I will get to test it out. If I like it, then I will replace the cheap sight with a nicer one when funds allow. The one I like is about $200.

G29 with the cheap set up...

What targets are you sighting in?

For sighting in I use the NRA pistol 50ft targets...

During the matches, I am shooting at NRA D-1 targets as specified by the match rules...

Are you using "normal" loads for your .40 S&W or light loads for competition?

Make Right With a ".40 Lite"

I use my own custom re-loads for competition. The President of RMR, Inc. is in the group I compete with and last week I shot one 50rd match using his new 155gr bullet over 4.8 grains of 231 powder in the G35.

I did compete with the G29 and the reflex sight and I was able to get shots on paper much faster, but the scores were nearly identical to my G35 with factory rear sight and Dawson fiber optic front sight.

The G29 with reflex sight and Lone Wolf conversion barrel to .40 S&W in Unlimited division netted me a 483 out of 500. It prefers a heavier bullet so I had reloads using 180gr Hornady XTPs and 4.0 gr of 231.

The G35 shooting .40 S&W in Stock division got me a 490. Frustrated at some weird fliers, I bought another entry in Unlimited with the G35 and bought a box of Federal 165gr American Eagle plinking ammo and ran another match with it and got a 483 due to going over time on one shot by half a second. Would have been a 493, otherwise.

I don't know. Was frustrated at my last range session that I couldn't group better than 2.5" at 25yds with either the G35 or the G29, but my subcompact XDS 40 will do under 2" using cheap plinking ammo all day long.

Was really tempted to buy a G30 in .45 ACP since they have a reputation of being the most accurate Glock you can buy for some odd reason.

But, decided to try getting a new prescription for my glasses and more practice, instead.

Groups were not bad, but not great... All were well on their way to a perfect 500 score until I hit the 25yd stages.
