  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where do you think Adam went when he died?

I have now heard/ read three possible theories. There is no way to find out the answer to this on earth, it's pretty firmly in Deut. 29:29 territory, but welcome to my personal question of the month. What do you think & why?
Here are the theories I've heard:

1) Adam went to heaven: God bringing a sort of confession out of Adam, God sacrificing the animal in making him clothes, Adam demonstrating his belief by naming Eve: Gen.3:20-21. I'll call this the Sproul view. God is forgiving & merciful, no sin is too big to forgive, etc.

2) Adam went to hell. The Tree of Life represented Christ, who was now off limits to Adam & Eve. They had received death for their sin, and the "life" being refered to in Gen 3:22 refered to eternal, not physical life. Everywhere in the NT that mentions Adam refers to him as the one who brought sin & death into the world. I'll call this the A.W. Pink view. God is good & just, the One who sends unregenerate infants into hell for being stamped with the sin of Adam, also punishes the one who caused all humanity to deserve hell right along with them.

3) Adam went to heaven for a time, then when Christ got there after His death on the cross, Adam was replaced by Christ- the last Adam- in all things, including glory. At this point, Adam was cast into hell.

It'll be interesting to me to see what you all think.

Heaven and Hell, for humans, are eternal states. Therefore #3 is an impossibility.
