I read in an MBTI article that both of these actors were INFJ. Do you agree with this?

I think they are both jerks. Or, at least they portray them in movies very often. Even though I do like a lot of their work. Sorry, but I didn't think either one would be classified this way. If this is true, then it really puts a new light on this personality type for me.

In case anyone is offended, I am only speaking for myself.

It's possible. From what I can tell, the MBTI is more about temperament than personality (what energizes a person, rather than how good or decent they are). There are probably "jerks" of every type. Not that I think the actors you mentioned are jerks... I've never even met them.

I think that people here spend way too much time thinking about and giving credence to personality types.

There is no way that 4 general statements can give anymore than a rough (and often false) classification of personality for someone.

Most people probably fall, in varrying degrees, into multiple bins making this even worse...

I think that someone could easily be a jerk and an INFJ. I'm an INFJ and I don't think anyone will be nominating me for sainthood (nevermind that I'm not Catholic and all of that other stuff).

I've actually read that Ben Affleck may be a jerk to random people, but is a devoted husband and father. I've also read that Adam Sandler is apparently a nice guy in general. (yes, when I get bored, sometimes I read celeb news--not Star or The National Enquirer though, I don't get that bored).

None taken in regards to offense man.

I really like them. I don't know too much about INFJ because I'm not one.

I feel bad calling them jerks. I've surely laughed enough at their comic portrayals. Maybe their "pretending" is all that it is. So I would be a hypocrite to laugh.

I was especially surprised about Affleck. I once read he was an ESTP or something. But last night I started watching Chasing Amy again. I could really see more of an INFJ there. He even plays a character named Holden.

I'm sure it's possible. I am actually an INFJ who knows several other INFJ's (partly because I am a seminary student, and the number of pastors who are INFJ is astonishing - although there are other types represented as well), and the truth is - every individual is unique in their own way. That is not to say that there won't be definite similarities in preferences, but MBTI is very limited that way.

Now, whether or not INFJ's can be jerks, I also say that it is entirely possible. I know I have days when I have run roughshod over people, especially when in my desire for "poetic justice" (a common INFJ trait) and "authenticity", I forget that I can be just as much of an offense to people, especially those who like the status quo and the "normal". Of course, it doesn't help that I have thought through my arguments and I have certain propensities toward stubbornness and using an overcharged vocabulary (which turns many people off - especially those who type in some sort of phonetic language that I THINK might be English, but I might be wrong...).

So can Ben Affleck and Adam Sandler, both guys called jerks on this thread, be considered among the INFJ crowd? I don't see why not.

As a BIG Chasing Amy fan and Kevin Smith flicks, the ones that have Affleck in them, I think your observation is right.

Btw:What's a nubian? :p

Unless there is another meaning, I've heard two such meanings.

1. The original meaning, being someone from Nubia (which would be in ancient Africa - the Nubians were well known for their ebony black skin)

2. A more modern definition I've heard is another way of saying newbie (someone who is new or unfamiliar with the lingo of a certain subject - this is often used in video games, web forums, and other things in geek-talk.)

That is possibly the most disgusting, vile movie I've ever seen.

Yes, it's unfortunate because it has a lot of good stuff in it (same with several of Kevin Smith's movies). But some of the language and content really bothers me.
