  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Adam mentioned in other books than the Bible...

Hello friends,

I have discovered that Adam is not mentioned only in the Bible, but also in other books.
Adam in Judaism and Christianity (Genesis) and Islam is the first creature of God created among human beings and then he created Eve from his rib left and placed them in the earth . In the Quran, we find his story how he's just disobeyed God in which (he forgot the Covenant and the eating of the tree is received and the command of God not to eat them) . </span></span>
God </span> brought to Earth to be the successor. Adam is then the father of all human beings.</span>

I have found this paragraph in the book titled Quran:

And , when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. (28) And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." (29) So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, (30)Except Satan, he refused to be with those who prostrated. (31)

Al- Hijr[ 28-31]

And when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know." (30) And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, "Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful." (31) They said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise." (32) He said, "O Adam, inform them of their names." And when he had informed them of their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed." (33)

Al- baqarah [30-33]

The question is:
Does this similarity between the three religions about the fact of Adam's creation mark that those three religions have one origin?

Is not it an additional argument for the theory of creation and God's existence?

Not if the writers had access to the book of Genesis or Jewish traditions about Adam. I certainly believe Paul was inspired by God when he wrote about Adam, but I don't think it was miraculous, or proof of creation, that he had knew about Adam and Eve.

yes, that's true.
It will be a proof of creation if it is demonstrated that Bible is not copied from the Torah and that quran is not copied from the Bible...

when doing a little searching in the internet, I have found this link which is pretty intersting . It compares the stories mentioned in the Bible and in the quran (moses, Adam,Cain and Abel, Joseph, Abraham, Noah,...)

(sorry, I am not yet allowed to post complete links as I have not posted sufficient threads)

well, the quran came after the Bible. As we certainly belive that the Bible was inpired by God, I think that muslims think also that the Quran is God's word.

I have always loved stories about prophets, etc. ^_^

Doesn't have to be copied word for word. Hearing the stories and giving you own take on them does not imply a miraculous revelation. Paul did not copy Romans 5 from the book of Genesis, it is however his interpretation of the meaning of the Genesis account. There were certainly Jewish communities living in Arabia for people to have heard of Adam and Eve, and Arab traders would have met with Christians too. Knowing about Adam and Eve when you have met with Jews and Christians is hardly miraculous, neither is writing you own version of what happened. As a Christian I believe Paul's interpretation of Adam and Eve was inspired by God, but it wasn't a miraculous confirmation of creation that Paul had read about Adam and Eve when he was training as a Rabbi.

Judaism is the foundation of Christianity: not only does the Torah make up the Old Testament of the Bible, Jesus says he was a Jew and when he was being nailed to the cross, people mocked him and called him "the King of the Jews".

Islam teaches that Judaism and Christianity is the base; however throughout the centuries the Bible has become "corrupted" because of differences in each copy, etc. They believe that the Quran is protected from being changed by God.

So, yes; I suppose you could say that they have a common origin.
