Why must there be a theological point of view? Why can't we simply accept that it was a real fruit on a real tree? It appears to me that theologians have done more harm to a human understanding of the Creator than the devil has with their insistence on "theologizing" everything, and that attitude has infected the average man in the pew.

I have alwasy agreed with the "it was an apple" concept. For a while, I thought it was a sexual issue of some sort. But, as I have done more thought and some research on it, I have come back to the "it was an apple" idea.

I think the reason a specific fruit was not mentioned, other than the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, was so that we would not condemn the fruit, but rather the disobedience which was the real issue. We humans tend to try to deflect the blame from ourselves and the issue of our disobedience to someone or something else. (Gen. 3:12,13)
