Even if I agreed with you that euthanasia was cowardice (which I don't), what right do we have to make cowardice illegal?

Suicide is the killing of oneself. You can call it something else to make it seem different but it isn't. Both are taking your own life instead of trusting God's plan. You are free to do what you want and make whatever decision you want but killing yourself instead of trusting in what is planned for you is disobient to the Lord.

Why is the cancer part of God's plan, but the euthanasia isn't? Either he implicitly approves of both, or he had no hand in both.

No benevolent God would put me in a situation in which I am made to suffer no matter what I do.

IMHO, euthanesia is brave....and those who choose otherwise are brave as well. I respect people who do not fear death and even are ready to die on their own terms and not the terms of the disease......Dying is not the most fun thing one can do....but we all have to face it. Why face it not the way you want. People can die in peace in their own home surrounded by family. The only thing I fear is dying alone....

Have a little more sensativity, please. I imagine the euthanasia decision requires a great deal of courage- deciding the exact moment and place of your death. If I was dying, I'd probably want to make it as easy as possible, in the same way (although obvioulsy on a much smaller scale) as I'd take a painkiller if I had a headache.

You know, I don't get this "die quietly and painlessly" thing. If I were terminally ill, I'd want to go skydiving without a parachute.

so, according to you, if we have a rather nasty terminal cancer, we should accept our fate and look death in the face with a grin and a hearty har har and die as slowly, horribly and painfully as needed/required just to prove to someone our bravery?

it takes one with courage to end their own personal suffering and save the loved ones the agonizing routine of watching the daily wasting away of someone they cared for, wondering at what time they will get the "Phone Call".

Suicide is self murder, whatever reason it is used for. Those that actively engage in it, at their own hand or a doctors will have to explain it to God.

Bingo. What if God is testing us, and you off yourself?!? You have acted against his will. We are to treat ourselves as temples.

You speak foolishly, and have seem to have no inherent ideal of the Benevolent God. You should read the Bible. For if you did, you would read of the innumerable masses who suffered in for Gods grace.

Well, everybody has its own form of euthanasia....

Believe me, there is a lot I want to do before I die. I get the impression (not from you by the way) from some of you here think that people who choose euthanasia hate life. Well, you couldn't be more wrong. I really want to grow old and grey with my hubs, I want to breathe the air after a summer rain, I want to see my breath in a cold winter night, I want to dance, run and jump (but I can not do that....I can't jump dance and run....Oh how I wish I was healthy enough to do just that). I want to make love in the moonlight, see flowers grow and hear the songs of birds.....for more than 90 years, if God is willing......

But the fact is that - as long as medical science isn't able to help me and people refuse to be organ donors - I will - hopefully - become 60 years old......

Have you any idea how much that hurts? But if I am going to die, I want to do it my way!
