Notes from the Safeguard Your Heart Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.

In the Holy Scriptures the heart is mentioned over 1000 times. Jehovah sees what the heart of everyone is actually like, there's a thought. 2Chronicles 16:9 shows an example of this regarding King Asa.

Is there something we can give God? Yes, our obedience. In Psalms 51:10 the writer asked for an obedient heart. In 2Chronicles 1:10 Solomon asked God to give him wisdom and knowledge, and also in 1Kings 3:9 he asked for an obedient heart (lit. a `hearing` heart).

One character who developed a bad heart before reforming was Manasseh (2Chronicles 33:6 compared with verses 12,13).

So to make sense of it all we need a `wheel of obedience`, with Jehovah (or Jah, God) as the hub in the centre. Five spokes come off this hub.

They are:

1. Prayer. 1Thess. 5:7.
2. Meditate. Hebrews 4:12.
3. Humility. Proverbs 15:22.
4. Elders (Pastors). James 5:14-16.
5. Association. 1Kings 10:15,16.

It all works when like a literal wheel it's well maintained and kept in good order. Also we are encouraged to go on walking with God (2John vs.6).
