• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have a lot of financial problems and other problems I don't care to get into. My question is do these circumstances, such as wage garnishment and debt affect your ability to get married? I want to know how this and possibly not gaving a huge personality can get in the way of getting married. I just want to know now instead of dreaming of the imposasible. Also what other ways can keep someone from getting married?

Well, they can affect your getting married if you do not have enough to live on and every day would be a struggle if you did not have the funds, so many fights in marriages are due to money issues, but, legally, they can not stop you from marrying.

I am not sure what you mean about huge personality. Each person is unique, they have their own personality, you need to pray for a mate that is compatible with yours, and wait upon the Lord for an answer.

I guess other things that can prevent a person from marrying would be an unbiblical divorce, certain health issues, a non-Christian marrying a Christian. I am not really sure of others.

I say, if you want to be married, pray hard, get your finances in better order if need be, and wait upon the Lord for an answer. Go to singles groups at your church if you have them.

I hope I have helped. God bless you in your journey.

I will answer this question in the way that I have interpreted it. I believe you are saying that you may not look like an attractive mate to a women without money or personality?

No one should marry you based on how much money you do or do not have. If they married you for that then they are marrying for the wrong reasons. As for personality, there's plenty of people who "lack" in it (myself included). However, that's our personality right there so we don't really lack in it. I promise you when you find the right person everything will click together. Your personalities will feed off of each other fluently. She won't care how much money you have.. She may be concerned about it in regards to the future, but she will love you the same.

I wouldn't be concerned about these matters. It's important to try to better your financial situation so that you and your potential future family can live better, but it's nothing we need spiritually.
