how to make pray effective? thx

Let's talk about prayer, it's a very important subject to learn and grow in. Consider this a lesson in the basics. Once you get this down, there is much deeper lessons to learn from.

Some Context
Prayer is when we speak in our hearts, or through our lips, expressing ourselves to the God of all creation. The designed our lives that we would be dependent on him, but our natural sinful/human nature is to be independent from him. There is always that battle going on inside us all. God knows it and understands it far better than you can begin to imagine.

The fact that God desires.. I do mean DESIRES and designed us to have a relationship with him, prayer is something that is really important to God. So much so, that Jesus gave his life so that you and I can have access to God himself. It's not a religious, follow the rules to get what you want thing. It's a deep personal intimate relationship between a human being and God himself. Also note that he knows your heart, the corks of your personality, your weirdness, he knows it all. He expects it, because he created us and gave it to us.

Being Sincere and Humble
Prayer is about having a heart to heart with God. Be humble and sincere, really you can't conceal, lie, or outsmart God. He knows all and sees all. And there is no where you can run on this earth to hide from him. God is not afraid to hear how you feel either, if your angry or upset about something, don't be afraid to express it with him. Like a loving father, he will make time for you and hear you out. Also like a father, it will be in his heart to do something about it. Mind you that is our Father, and he love to teach you something about himself through what your going through.

Be humble and sincere, is the best place to start your prayers.

Pray and ask in the name of Jesus.
John 14:13-14 NASB
13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus is our intercessor or High Priest for all of us. We come into God's presence by name and blood of Jesus.

Confess, Repent of known sin, and ask for forgiveness
A sinner can't come into the presence of God, but a forgiven sinner can. If the Lord been convicting you of any known sin. With remorse in your heart, confess it and ask for forgiveness. Remember that God is a holy and just God, we need to be forgive of our sins before enter into God's holy presence.

Come into his presence with a thankful heart
Second place is to be thankful. Just pause for a moment, and just really take in your life situation. Some areas of our lives seem painful and out of control, but when we really reflect on life. There are many things that ARE going right and have been a blessing. Just take a moment and give him thanks for who he is and for what you are thankful for.

Example...

Thank Lord, that I was lost, so very lost, but you found me. I may be struggling today, but how many times have I been here and you rescued me. I thank you Lord for my lovely wife, for this wonderful apartment, and for being my teacher even though there are times when I didn't want to listen.

Learning God's attitude and heart for your prayers
Lastly, God knows your needs before you even speak it. His desire is ultimately to learn to desire what is good. If you ask for a sports car with all the trimmings to be for free at your front door. It's not that he can't make that happen, but he knows that it won't help you to grow in your relationship with him because too busy driving around to think about God.

Instead God gives us passions and compassion for certain things. He wants to see the world through his eyes.

Jonah 4:9-11 NKJV
9 Then God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?”
And he said, “It is right for me to be angry, even to death!”
10 But the Lord said, “You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night. 11 And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left—and much livestock?”

I love this scripture because it's shows you God's heart. God desires to save his people and save sinners. Jonah wants to see this pagan city be removed from the earth, yet God hurts for Nineveh because they don't have someone to teach them the truth. He is going to lead you into desiring the same things, because you are his child. Just like a son becomes like his father, we, his children, learn to become like God as our relationship grows with him.

Conclusion
This is a large amount of information to take in. Please take your time reading and meditating on it. If you have questions, please don't be afraid to ask.

Remember,
-be honest and sincere
-Note that you gain access to the father by Jesus' name
-lay down any sins before God and ask for forgiveness
-come into his presence with a thankful heart
-don't be afraid to ask for whatever you need, but
-be mindful of your requests, to seek after the good things that God put into your heart to desire

Don't be afraid to pray for yourself and others around you too. =)

what are ur advices?

When one of Jesus' disciples asked him how to pray, he told all his disciples to pray what believers call the Lord's prayer (Luke 11:1-4, Matthew 6:9-13). So believers should pray the Lord's prayer, every day, and learn to concentrate on everything it says. It's the perfect model prayer, from which any further, more specific prayers can follow. And there's no need to get long-winded or repetitive (Matthew 6:7-13, Ecclesiastes 5:2). It's better to pray a short prayer with faith than a long prayer with doubting (James 1:6-8).

In order for believers' prayers to be heard, and answered, they must not "ask amiss, that they may consume it upon their lusts" (James 4:3). Before believers pray, they must make sure that they have repented from all their sins (Hebrews 10:26-29), and done all that they can to make reparations to and peace with everyone whom they have ever wronged (Matthew 5:23-26, Romans 12:18, Acts 24:16, Hebrews 12:14). And they must make sure that they have completely forgiven everyone who has ever wronged them (Matthew 6:15). And when they pray for something, they must pray for it with an unwavering faith (James 1:6-8) and an unwavering perseverance (Luke 18:1-8). And they must actually be obeying God in their lives (1 John 3:22). And what they ask for must be according to God's will (1 John 5:14). They must be willing to put aside their own will, and seek God's will in all things (Luke 22:42, Matthew 6:10; 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, Deuteronomy 3:25-26).

Also, believers should give thanks (Philippians 4:6-7). And they should pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalms 122:6). And they should pray for all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2). And they should pray that the Lord of the harvest will send forth laborers into his harvest (Matthew 9:38). Believers should also pray that they might be accounted worthy to escape the future tribulation (Luke 21:36), and that their flight (from the future Antichrist) won't be in the winter (Mark 13:18). And believers who have received the gift of tongues should pray for the separate gift of the interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 14:13).

It's important to remember that you are speaking with Someone, and not just getting things accomplished. People try to manipulate outcomes, but prayer is a conversation with the Almighty; we cannot control what God does.

He has heard the things you have prayed for. He has listened, and probably already put things in motion.

I pray for health, others' respect and love for me ,high IQ and all people's well-being.

I find it helpful to use what He has already promised to give me reassurance of what I have the right to ask for. For instance, "He surrounds the righteous with favor, like a shield."
Combining the scriptures with prayer can help you stay in line with what is His will.

Also, God can give you new things to pray for and use you to help strangers... just respond in prayer when something comes to mind, and He will give you more. There are many things we don't know about, but He does... and He can involve you in prayer for people who really need rescue.

The Our Father:
Our Father
(God is aware of each of Us and we are aware of Him.)

Thou art in Heaven
(He is without contestant and is in possession of Wisdom.)

Hallowed be thy name
(You are in accordance with his authority and acknowledge it)

Thy kingdom come and will be done
(You have faith in what God has planned, knowing justice is his to determine)

On Earth as it is in Heaven
(You acknowledge both Heaven and Earth are in conflict now but will not always be.)

Give us this day our daily bread
(Do not be in fear to take the necessary requirements to sustain life)

And forgive us our trespasses
(so that you can awake in the morning and be productive and think clearly what must be done to correct your mistakes)

As we forgive those who trespass against us
(Admit you are not restricted by hatred or mishappens to be pleased with God or God with you)

And lead us not into temptation
(Know God will not guide you to be sinful)

But deliver us from Evil
(and through knowledge of God you are given a map to righteousness)

This is a prayer that never ceases. It is the very lifeblood of your soul.
You are to never stop praying. You are to always remember this.
And you will be Glad, because God is omnipotent.

Love what God loves, and Hate what God hates.

This alone is how you will come to know God through Jesus.

how to make pray effective? thx

A famous teaching aid described prayer as "a lifting up of our hearts and minds to God."

IMO that's a pretty good answer. ANY time we turn to God in prayer, using ANY words or thoughts, audible or inaudible, wherever we are...is effective.
