Now I don't want to get anyone mad. But I really don't understand this. There are some scriptures that make God's stand on abortion a little less than clear at least to me. Numbers 31:17 (Moses) “Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every women that hath known man by lying with him.” In other words: women that might be pregnant, which clearly is abortion for the fetus.

If God is strictly against all abortion, why does He appear to order at least the possibility of it here (not to mention the other barbarity) or was this just Moses over-doing it?

Probably just the author(s) overdoing it....

It's a complex issue. Abortion for convenience, I believe, is wrong. Abortion to save the life of the mother when there is no other option? Can't say it's "right" but I really can't say it's "wrong" either. And even though I believe abortion for convenience is wrong, I don't believe it's my place to enforce my beliefs on another, nor do I think the government should legislate personal morality and what we do to our own bodies and what is, scientifically, a parasite. (I said scientifically, so don't get hot-headed on me....)

so i am assuming that you believe that abortion is morally wrong, right? do you believe that rape is morally wrong? do you believe that rape should be illegal? If yes, what is the differance between rape being morally wrong, and abortion being morally wrong? Are there two different definitions for "morally wrong?"

Just think of the little life and soul that wont ever get the chance to reveal who they were, a little bundle of love that we wil never know, it makes me sad.
God has been responsible for a lot of this sort of thing. I mean ordering the death of children.

Morally wrong? What exactly does that mean. Can you specifically define everything that is and isn't morally wrong and say with 100% certainty that that applies to every person, everywhere for all time?

Do I think rape is morally wrong? You won't like my answer. No, I don't. I think it's socially wrong, and because of that it becomes morally wrong for a majority of people. Morals are something personal, social values are more broadly defined. Personally, for myself, rape is morally wrong, it's horrid and it's something that should be punished to the full extent of modern laws. However if you look at someone who is about to commit rape and ask them if what they are doing is morally wrong, they'll either laugh, kill you or rape you as well.

Morals are subjective, whether we like it or not. The Bible is not in anyway specific in it's condemnation of abortion. In fact as has already been stated, according to a strict literal interpretation of the Bible, God delights in killing unborn children.

For me personally, abortion is wrong. But, and this is a huge but, I will not tell someone else that they have to live by my interpretation of morality. I certainly wouldn't like it if someone came to me and said that killing anything at all was immoral, because when a mosquito bites me, I'm killing it, regardless of anyone else's morality.

I think I just typed this on another topic.

Nessecary for the following causes:
1) Incest
2) Rape
3) Mother is too young (like 17-)

UNnessecary for the following cause:
Don't think she can raises a child (then give it up for adoption)

I didn't vote becuase I don't like the choices.

I am Christian and I think it wrong and that position is not really so much from a Biblical perspective as it is from my having had an abortion and being being a mother. I know what it is to carry life and there are no two ways about it when you have an abortion you are ending a life. Now whether you choose to believe that the life you are carrying warrants your consideration is another issue but it is a life.

I do however believe that in the cases of rape or incest the emotional trauma you are asking the mother to go through is so severe that in these cases I do understand and of course if the life of the mother is in jeopardy.

Although I don't believe in banning it, I believe that it should be used only as a last resort and for convenience is just wrong. However, in cases such as incest, rape or the mother's life being at risk it should be allowed. It's a complex issue that I don't completely understand so I don't have a very complete opinion about it.
