  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Abortion ok?

Are abortions ever ok?

  • Yes, but only in the case of incest, rape, or the endangerment of the mother or child.

  • Yes, but only in the case of the endangerment of the mother or child.

  • No, Never!

  • I am torn and not sure.

  • Is an abortion alright for any reason?

I heard a great quote once. "There are never any accidental babies, only accidental parents." If a woman gets pregnant, that is God's child. He wants that child to grow and be strong. That doesn't mean that he wants you to be the parent. NO INNOCENT CHILD SHOULD HAVE TO DIE! (is my opinion)

An incredibly insensitive quote, but I guess that all relies on personal opinion as well...

On topic, though, in the cases of rape, the fetus being severely disabled/deformed, incest, or the mother having an addiction of some sort, the mother being about to enter menopause, I think all are very valid reasons to have an abortion if the mother wants to.

Then again, I don't think any woman should be forced to carry on with a pregnancy if she doesn't want to, so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask.

Alas, I can't vote.

I can't vote as there is not a general yes answer stating that abortion is ok in just about every case, if not every case. I would not restrict abortions to a few defining circumstances. I do not believe the fetus becomes a person until birth.

I didn't feel that I could honestly answer the poll because it seemed to be trying to hone in on general cases. I believe that, in the case of something as awe-fully and terribly conflicting as abortion, there is no such thing as a general case. Neither I nor anybody else should take it upon ourselves to tell a woman who has been raped, or who is the victim of incest, or who is carrying a child who may kill her, what to do.

I could only say what I would do under those circumstances, and I certainly don't think that my decisions for me should be turned into general rules that everybody else should have to follow.

And also, thinking about it, I don't even think I could say what I would do under those circumstances. I had a hysterectomy a number of years ago and am beyond the danger of being forced to face any such terrible conflict.

There is now a general yes answer so please vote, and give your opinion.

Preytell, which is that general "Yes" vote? Because both "Yes"'s make clear endangerment, rape or incest must be one of the motivations.

There is a general "No, never!" but no such "Yes" vote. Such as "Yes, when the mother feels it is nessecary."

I did not vote because the options are ambiguous. Abortion should remain safe and legal under all circumstances, but my opinion of what is right for me (no abortions under any circumstances except an extreme situation like an ecotopic pregnancy and the like) are not right for others and it would be wrong for me to seek to impose my views on others.

I believe abortion should be allowed when it will likely kill the mother, yes. sometimes the body rebels a pregnancy and does not always abort the fetus itself, but instead would likely terminate both the child and woman, or just one, if the pregnancy continued. Every baby is precious, but a mother who already has children and people on this Earth with her is also precious. It depends on the circumstances.

I wouldn't say that abortion is alright for any reason. For example, getting an an abortion because you're not going to have a male child is just despicable in my opinion although it is common in some nations.

I agree gender selection abortions are wrong, but whether or not they occur is in no way the business of the government.

The reasons for an abortion always are up to the woman and medical providers and any attempt to intervene therein by governments or others is wrong.

Yes. Some women shouldn't have to be mothers if they don't want to.

Again, I can't vote. "Yes. If the mother feels it's the best choice for her." That's far more of a universal yes than one that only makes exception for reasons based on the life of the mother being in danger, incest, or rape.
