  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

bradford,

LOL that is funny. You have yourself one smart kid there.

I dont know everything about physics, I am not a scientist, I am just a mom, but some of this stuff, even I, can see the problem with it.

Someday I would like to ask someone who knows all about this stuff (science/physics), some questions. Its just stuff that I have been thinking about.

Since the mid-1920's there has been a central problem in physics. quantum mechanics describes matter on very small scales, and Einsteinian relativity matter on very large and fast scales. Each theory on it's own has made many predictions, and each prediction has been verified. Unfortunately, as currently conceived the two theories are incompatible. The equations for one simply do not fit into the other.

To be sure, attempts to unify these theories have been attempted, with some success in some areas BUT, especially gravity, is intransigent. Current attempts are via theories known as "supersymmetric superstrings" that exist in 11 dimensions. However the equations are massive, and so far no testable preditions can be teased out. To actually observe a single "string" one would need something like the entire energy of the universe.

So, the truth be told, since the phenomenal advances of the 1920's, there has developed a serious problem in physics, which remains unresolved.

That is why I think it very arrogant that the same folk that admit they have no unified theory that can be tested, think they can tell me to a minute fraction of a second how everything came to be.
