In another thread someone introduced what was completely off topic. Slavery. Asking for scriptures that condemned slavery.
Isn't that the way though? A moral issue is being discussed and something out of left field is tossed in by those opposed to scripture, Christians, Christianity, take your pick, so as to use that off topic item as cause to condemn the entire moral platform of the faith. And the particular moral issue being discussed and wherein that OT topic was interjected.
I thought this thread would be a proper place where Christians could discuss this oft misunderstood issue that is thought to be a rightful missile those opposed to Christianity can use to attack the whole of the moral framework in which we stand on God's word.
I posted it here so that we'd not be assaulted by those inclined to do so. They can read and learn if they're of a mind. And meanwhile we can discuss and learn so as to combat that sort of thing should it arise off or on-line.

The Old Testament on Slavery (Source:What Christians Want To Know: What Does The Bible Say About Slavery. Does It Condone It? by JACK WELLMAN)
People might be surprised to learn that the Bible does not condone slavery at all, even in the Old Testament as many falsely claim. Even in the first laws that God gave, God abhorred the capturing of people to make them slaves. Exodus 21:16 states, “Anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper’s possession.” God not only forbids slavery, He gives them the death penalty for it. That’s how serious God sees slavery as. Slavery is no different than kidnapping to God. But what about the slaves mentioned elsewhere in the Old Testament?
