Abbeys in the Midwest

Hi, first topic so if this is in the wrong place I'm sorry. I tried to find a suitable place for the topic, and here was the best I could find.

Anyway, I want to ask if anyone knows of any good Abbeys/Monasteries that allow men to join for a few weeks. I found one place in South Dakota, but it's kind of far (It's called the Blue Cloud abbey, you can do a google search for it since I can't post links yet).

I live near Chicago, and I would think that there is some sort of monastery in the city, but I couldn't find information on one. If anybody knows anything about this kind of stuff your input would be much appreciated. I want to specify that I am only looking to stay somewhere for a few weeks, I'm not sure yet if it's my calling. Thanks!

Do you mean somethiong like a Catholic Monastery? Or a seminary?

look up retreats or monasteries (i think you had looked for "abbeys" on google in your home state. you will be surprised what comes up. i wanted to get away for a few days and found some where i live,, which was a surprise.

I need a few more posts, then I can show you the link to the Blue Cloud Abbey.

But, I'm looking for a Monastery, not a seminary. Yeah, it can be Catholic, but it doesn't have to be. Actually, a Franciscan Monastery would be cool, but I'm just looking for information on any nearby.
