I realize it looks like a breakthrough but I wouldn't get too excited about it. He's done this kind of thing before and then launched missiles at Sderot.

He'll be singing his old tune as soon as he runs out of foreign aid money

Nothing has really changed...and that's why the media doesn't cover it.

Ever heard of Anwar Sadat?

I would be surprised if Abbas makes it to 2008. Treachery is how that world operates.
I was thinking of that. Just curious on how quickly this one happens.

I though I could apply if one does not have anything good to say.. but enough is enough...

Look people, the Arab world is going to interpret this rather easily. Hamas was voted in because they don't like Fatah. Fatah is kept alive by western funds. They are just going to say, and rightly so, this guy is a puppet. I do not understand how Fatah is anything other than a western installed power. What if you lived in a small town and millions kept going to some idiot from the big city to keep him there? What if he decided to build a side walk right through your house? Is that the will of the people? Is this a failure of the town's people? It is on the level of knuckle dragging nonsense for the puppeteer to gloat over the puppet.
Its a yawn, a so what, a bought and paid for western leader does not follow an Arab agenda. Now if Osama said it that would be something.
I hate Islam but I will contend for common sense

Abbas is nothing more than an Israeli puppet, he has sold out to save himself.

Israel and the US have rejected the DEMOCRATICLY elected government of Palestine. Now they are trying to propt up a non-democratic government, with Abbas as dictator and they are bending over backwards to do this, and he is all to willingly bending forwards and letting them.

People seem to forget, that all the things Hamas is accused of, the rational behind not regonizeing them…. Abbas and the PLO is guilty of as well. The only difference is that after 30 years of corruption with Arafat the PLO leadership and Fatah are more willing to sell out their own people than fight for freedom, and as long as Israel is willing to pay they will sit by and take it.

Just a few week ago Israel gave amnesty to 145 Fatah terrorists, these are men who launched attacks on Israel, killed Israelis in terrorist attacks and plotted, planed more.

The Hypocrisy of Israel and the West is beyond words.

Stable government under Abbas? First Israel funds Hamas to counter the PLO, which Abbas was one of the leaders of. Then Hamas wins the democratic elections in Palestine, so Israel starts supporting Abbas and the PLO who they funded Hamas to remove from power....

isreal want nothing but stability in the region.

No they don’t, stability means peace, and peace means Israel will have to give up its settlements and de-occupy Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights and parts of Lebanon.
Like I said, go read 1984

Perpetual war is what Israel requires to maintain itself, Israel considers the loss of a few Jews at the hands of Palestinians acceptable price to pay for maintaining its settlements, maintaining its occupation. If Palestinians stop attacking Israel what excuse would they have for their occupation? What excuse would they have for bombing and killing Palestinians?

Pepretual war is what Isreal has been in because the enemy of Gods chosen people will not let her rest. This is because God is soveriegn and will do whatever is necessary for His purposes. He is not done with Israel, not by a long shot.

Now that IS interesting! Let have the Palestinians stop. See what happens! If Israel continues, then the whole world will know you are right! Its in their court it seems if your theory is correct.

See 1948-1953.

Palestinians were rebuilding their lives after Israel removed them from their land, in that time frame there are 193 UN defined massacres committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians.

Israeli forces routinely moved over teh border and attacked Arab villages, killing men, women and children alike. They are well documented and the only reason they stoped doing them so out in the open was because the US threatened to cut off funding to Israel if they didn't.

Interesting article in Time magazine from 1953 about one of these massacres, commanded by a man who later became Prime Minister of Israel and massacred tens of thousands more during his reign.
