Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not really, since from a scientific standpoint there is nothing that supports it, but lots of things that falsify it. :)

Science does not really falsify that there is a young earth. They do not falsify that Adam and Eve and all the plants and animals in the Garden of Eden were all created in the last 6000 years.

Science does tend to have quite a bit of evidence that there was an old earth here also, before God created Eden and all that was in Eden. A lot of people have seen all the evidence for a young earth, so they believe in a young earth. They have not seen the evidence yet for a old earth, so they as yet to not believe in an old earth.

The only surprise then is the people who have studied the evidence for an old earth, and still do not accept that there was a old earth. Or worse yet, they take the evidence for an old earth, and try to fit that into their young earth theory.

true statements should not have false consequences.

you've seen that before right john?

The so called "false consequences" for a young earth are very meager.

According to the GAP God destroyed the old earth that was here and started all over again with the new earth.

very nice john. where does it say he did that?

Genesis 1:2
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

If you study the Hebrew words used in verse two of Genesis chapter one, you will see that there was a world here before, but it had been destroyed and it was desolate. God then began all over again.

The young world is very much like the old world was. But in someways, the young world is very different from the old world.

But that's not what YEC proponents think. They believe the Earth AND universe were created ex nihilo ~6000-12000 years ago.

I notice that preposition becomes open to negotiation whenever there's a problem with it.

And John, why did God bother to shove fossils in the earth when he was creating it?

sounds kind of like the Matrix.

what are the hebrew words then?

Matrix, is that the new Toyota? My wife is a big Toyota fan, she wants me to buy her a Martix.

Genesis 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

formlessness, confusion, unreality, emptiness
formlessness (of primeval earth)
nothingness, empty space
that which is empty or unreal (of idols)
wasteland, wilderness (of solitary places)
place of chaos vanity

emptiness, void, waste an undistinguishable ruin :- emptiness, void.

darkness; figurative misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness :- dark (-ness), night, obscurity.

When God creates something, He always says that it was good. The condition the earth was in: without "form, void and darkness" is anything but good, and this was not the condition that God created the earth in.
