What if someone came up to you and said that something EGW taught was unbiblical and then proceeded to clearly show you from the Bible that what was taught was incorrect...What would be your response?

Please note this is a "what if" question only and I am not saying that EGW did or did not teach something that was unbiblical.

People are constantly using EGW and her doctrine to harass SDA's the whole concept of Seventh Day adventists is worshipping the true Sabbath and keeping our temples clean from impurities. If someone uses EGW tell them that EGW was human born to her inequities and sins. I for 1 love the LORD and all HIS promises. The more people persecute us the more we praise HIS HOLY name. GOD bless.

I can imagine in my mind that in Paul's time if someone had been reading his epistles and came up and asked this question. What if someone came up and showed you from the pentatuach where Paul's writings were not from the Bible what would you say?

Nearly all of the gospels 3 of the 4 are synoptic and are based on GMark and could easily be called plagerized work by today's standards.

If the work is in direct opposition to the canonized scripture today then it's to be discarded in my opinion but so far I have not found her work to be in direct opposition to the Bible.

God Bless

Eila, your thread is unnecessary, and your motives are questionable.

You clearly know that this issue has been a point of contention for many members on this forum, and being a former Adventist, know full well the issues already.

What if someone came up to you and showed you from the Bible that you are sinning by breaking the Ten Commandments? Or, what about the state of the dead? The investigative judgment? What would be your response? Of course, you already "know" these not to be true, so the question is illogical from the off, right?

I don't really care if the "progressives" now jump to the alert and accuse me of demonizing you. I am not one to stand for this nonsense.

I'm sorry you feel that way. It is not ill-intentioned. I am working through a totally separate issue and thought the input here would be helpful because it relates - although indirectly.

Let me rephrase the question. It appears as though the initial question may have come across the wrong way. I apologize for that. Hopefully the rephrased question will be more appropriate.

Do you believe it is possible for EGW to teach something that is unbiblical or do you trust that everything she taught was Biblical?

Eila--I really do think your question is meant to insite very negative debate and I think we have all had a belly full of that!!! Why not let it lay--please.

If you are a former SDA-then why should it matter to you either way? Let it go!!

Forget it then. Moderator, please close the thread. This thread was not intended to incite debate, it was simply to get your perspective on my question.

Thanks for the few who did respond. I really appreciate it!! That info has helped me in the issue I am dealing with.

Well maybe before it get closed I can have a crack at it.

If someone claims to be a prophet and says something that is against what the Bible says then their status as a prophet should be seriously reconsidered. But then maybe the idea of a prophet should also be reconsidered. Paul directly contradicts some of the teachings of the book of Ecclesiastes and certainly contradicts the whole idea of physical circumcision. Chronicles contradicts the book of Samuel in the account of David numbering Israel.

In general it is extremely hard to find where a prophet contradicts something specific in the Bible. The reason is that the Bible has a lot to say and covers a lot of territory and requires interpretation on many factors. I think it would have been interesting to delve into the question you asked. But unfortunately there are many here who don't search for answers and dislike questions. Then again who cares, why should the children stop the adults from talking.
