Part one of two
I pray that you take some time and carefully read this next study I just put together for you. We truly have to let the Bible speak for itself when studying things that pertain to true worship of the one true God.
I have done many, many hours of study and prayer on the topic of the Sabbath, in the same way, I’ve done many, many hours of study on the false Trinity God. These are two major distortions that came from the beast kingdom, which, according to Bible prophecy, is Papal Rome.
In the year 325AD, at the council of Nicaea, Papal Rome began to establish the eternally begotten Son of God making Him co-eternal and co-equal with the one true God. This brought much persecution among Bible believing Christians. At the council of Laodicea in 364AD another distortion was pronounced, which also brought much persecution towards believers : Council of Laodicea "Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, the Sabbath, but shall work on that day; but the Lord's day (Sunday) they shall especially honor, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ." ---Canon 29, Council of Laodicea, 364 C.E.
There is nothing in the Bible that calls the Lord’s day Sunday but there is much in the Bible that calls the Lord’s day, the seventh day, the Sabbath of the Lord.
Papal Rome has made this change with no authority from the Bible thus fulfilling the prophecy in Daniel of the beast changing God’s law and God’s time.
The following is taken right from the Catholic Catechism, which they use to teach their followers.
“Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
“Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd edition, 1957.
The battle in the spiritual realm is over worship. Satan has distorted much of what God calls holy and created to bring glory to Him. Listen to what Satan has in his mind to do.
Isaiah 14:12-14 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: `I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.'
Satan has established his own religion. He has distorted much of what God has called holy and made it seem very religious. Listen to who gives the beast kingdom, Papal Rome, its power, authority and throne.
Revelation 13:2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.
Satan has distorted the first four commandments because it's in these four commandments that bring full glory to God and God alone. Man can receive glory when man keeps the last six but God alone receives all the glory when we understand and keep the first four and Satan hates when God receives glory.
The seventh day Sabbath is a literal day that brings glory to God. It‘s not a spiritual day, but rather, a literal day in that everyone in our entire household including sons, daughters, servants, cattle and even the stranger must remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. We are called to remember this day, not forget it or do away with it.
Exodus 20:8-11 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
Now to answer the big question regarding the seventh day Sabbath of the fourth commandment being part of the equation of new moons, sabbaths and festivals.
Like I said, I’ve done many hours of study on this topic. This is something you may need to do as well.
In my studies I have found that the seventh day Sabbath is not part of the equation of new moons. sabbath and festivals, it’s a totally separate day. You too will see this in your studies, you need to just let the Bible speak for itself and understand the spiritual battle over true worship.
The first thing you will find in your studies is that there are many so called, sabbaths, mentioned in the Old Testament. The new moons, sabbaths and festivals are shadows that picture the life and work of Christ through the sacrificial system of burnt offerings, drink offerings, food offerings and ceremonial washings, which has to do with sin, the seventh day Sabbath is not, God makes this very clear.
Listen to Leviticus in how God makes a distinction between the seventh day Sabbath of God, which is the fourth commandment, and all the other sabbaths of the sacrificial system mentioned throughout the Old Testament. Very important to keep in mind the drink and food offerings being made on these other sabbaths, as well as, the burnt offerings.
Leviticus 23:1-25 The Lord spoke again to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, `The Lord's appointed times which you shall proclaim as holy convocations My appointed times are these: `For six days work may be done; but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings. `These are the appointed times of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them. `In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the Lord's Passover. `Then on the fifteenth day of the same month there is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. `On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work. `But for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.'" Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them, `When you enter the land which I am going to give to you and reap its harvest, then you shall bring in the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. `And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. `Now on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb one year old without defect for a burnt offering to the Lord. `Its grain offering shall then be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire to the Lord for a soothing aroma, with its libation, a fourth of a hin of wine. `Until this same day, until you have brought in the offering of your God, you shall eat neither bread nor roasted grain nor new growth. It is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. `You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths. `You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord. `You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths of an ephah; they shall be of a fine flour, baked with leaven as first fruits to the Lord. `Along with the bread, you shall present seven one year old male lambs without defect, and a bull of the herd, and two rams; they are to be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offering and their libations, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord. `You shall also offer one male goat for a sin offering and two male lambs one year old for a sacrifice of peace offerings. `The priest shall then wave them with the bread of the first fruits for a wave offering with two lambs before the Lord; they are to be holy to the Lord for the priest. `On this same day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be a perpetual statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations. `When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the alien. I am the Lord your God.'" Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, `In the seventh month on the first of the month, you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. `You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.'"
Did you notice how in the very beginning of these verses the seventh day Sabbath of God is separate from all the other sabbaths?
Listen to how another translation puts it. You will see it much clearer.
Leviticus 23:1-5 The Lord said to Moses, ``Announce to the people of Israel that they are to celebrate several annual festivals of the Lord--times when all Israel will assemble and worship me. (These are in addition to your Sabbaths --the seventh day of every week--which are always days of rest in every home, times for assembling to worship, and for resting from the normal business of the week.) These are the holy festivals which are to be observed each year: “The Passover of the Lord: This is to be celebrated on the first day of April, beginning at sundown...
