  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A very important question

Hey brothers and sisters I have a question that no Christian was able to answer for me yet. I just want to know what happens to people with mental illnesses after they die and haven't had the chance to accept Christ. Now I DON'T mean those who were born with the disease but rather developed it over a period of time. Like Alzheimer's disease. My grandmother had it and my mother might get it in the future. They're all athiests and I'm just a recent convert. Anyway...yeh...so many people develop Alzheimer's so what happens to them???

If they've ever heard the Gospel when they were of sound mind, they've had at least one chance. Also, I know you didn't ask for those who were born with mental illnesses, but there are Christians I know who were born with some degree of retardation and became Christians. One even has atheist parents, and he converted. So even if one doesn't have a sound mind anymore, one still can accept Jesus Christ.

MY DEAR SISTER,

Given that our puny human understanding is totally incapable of understanding the ways of God and the infinitude of His love and mercy, questions like this cannot be answered and perhaps shouldn't be speculated upon. Those whom you are concerned about should be prayed for and the outcome left in God's hands.

IN CHRIST,
ephraim

Ok thanks for your responses :)
When a person dies, whether you are Christian or a non-Christians our Lord Jesus Christ is the judge, not us.

So, don't allow yourself to be caught up in one the enemy's traps of wondering and becoming "double-minded".

Love in Christ

Relying on Jesus is the significant indicator for people who are avowed atheists in adulthood. It's not the level of living and faith, the advances & declines of faith as (we all) advance & decline with years. This life is terminal, in either event. It comes down to God's grace for us, not some test, "Do you believe enough ?" Because when we're dead, God is completely sustaining our spirits. Our brains aren't involved at all at that point.

God said those who believe in Him should not perish but have (at present) eternal life. When saving faith exists, we know God gives eternal life to that person. And eternal life? That's a life that once given, doesn't go away.

I feel that God knows what is really in their hearts and he can communicate with anyone, whether they are an infant or suffer from mental illness. I also think this is on a level that we will not see and may never know that it is happening.

I am finding that when I look up something in the Bible, the answers may not be a clear yes or no type answer. Many times it comes down to a process of praying and meditating on the word and in Gods time, the answers will be clear to us.

Pray for your family, be a witness for them to see. God will speak to them in his way. I feel some things we may never find out the answer to while we are in our earthly bodies, but some day, all will be made clear.:amen:

Hard to say since most people with Alzheimer's get it later in life when they have already heard the gospel. I would say if they had reached a point where they could understand the gospel and had a chance to hear it then they would be condemned if they didn't respond to it. But, others never come to the point where they understand right and wrong and are always childish in their understanding. I can't see them being accountable since they lack the understanding.
Hope that helps.

IMHO, God Understands the mind and heart of ALL of us. I am sure that God will judge fairly. I am sure that Jesus died for the sins of All including those whose mind is not right. Do not fret myfriend. God, knows. God Forgives. God Loves.
