  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sometimes I like to lay around and sometimes I like to go outside and try to walk it off. And yes for me being outside and walking does sometimes help me.

Usually when I feel bad I don't like to eat anything. Usually everything sounds really really bad.

When I feel bad I usually don't want to be around anybody.

I'm not sure that when I'm sick my movie/show tastes change.

I am usually very nice, sometimes I may even overcompensate to ensure that I am not burdening anyone...lol, there is no point in being grumpy or mean just because you don't feel bad, that won't solve anything.

I try to avoid getting sick. The keys are to wash your hands a lot, take vitamins, and love lysol...lol

My favorite brand of chocolate....this is a tough one, I love so many. I really like cadbury. But there are some luxury brands that are good, but I can't remember what they are called right now.

I would feel very comfortable adopting a child from another country. Particularly a third world country in which they have little to no chance of getting out of poverty or even surviving to make it to adulthood without being adopted. Here I am particularly thinking of subsaharan Africa. It would be good to adopt a child from anywhere, but children in the 1st world (including the US) have a better chance at life already. Children in the third world have a very slim chance at a happy life and sometimes even a life at all after a certain age.

So... You believe that children in the US who are raised in poverty and/or in abusive homes honestly have the same chance of having a normal life as everyone else? Both hunger and abuse has serious psychological side effects. Why would you look to a 3rd world country before trying to fix 'home' first?

I honestly think at times you should be a lawyer, you sometimes have a weird way of interpreting my words, or maybe I'm not being clear.

I think fixing home is good. But I also believe that for the most part children here don't die at the same rate as children in 3rd world countries that don't have a government that will pay people for better or worse to look after them in some form or another. They live on the streets, get food at landfills and usually die before they reach adulthood.

Now having said that I do understand the psychological problems that many foster children have here. I am not a fan of the foster care program because I know there are a lot of abuses within the system and in this area anyway people do it for the wrong reasons.

This is where decisions get very hard. Is it better to keep a child from having bad foster parents or keeping a child alive that has no parents, no way to get food except the garbage and what they can steal.

I understand your point and think it is a valid one. Life is full of difficult decisions.

Of course children in abusive situations do not have a good chance at a normal life. I never said they did or didn't mean they would, but the key here is they have a chance at life, so many other children don't have that chance.

I can't stand the argument that we have to fix home before we can attempt to help others. I believe we will always have problems at home we will never get it perfect. We must keep trying, but we can try to help others at the same time. Our poor people have it bad, but compared to poor people in the third world they have it pretty easy here. I know this sounds cruel and I don't mean to be. I want to eradicate poverty here. I think it is a awful that any child has a bad childhood experience. People who abuse children should be severely punished. But we also have a duty to help others even outside this country. Part of the problem here is people don't even try to help themselves, they just think it is the government's job to give them a check. You know what I am talking about and it makes me so mad, but anyway...lol I will stop rambling in this post.
