• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If someone does not eat because of an ED, are you held accountable before the lord? esp if you leave behind children that he has put in your hands? Is it a sin to literally starve oneself to death, be aware of it,and not accept the help. a sin also?

Well putting aside the eating disorder and just addressing the issue of dying in sin. What I do know is God does have great mercy and all things do serve His purpose. Also I do know that God has said "I will have mercy on those I will have mercy" Meaning to me we cannot know on earth.

As for the sin in starving to death, I really don't know. What I do know is our body is the Temple of the Lord. And so we must take good care of it. However I do not consider most mental illness a sin, there may be elements of mental illness in all sin. But I cannot condemn a man or woman who just cannot overcome the flesh. And I think God knows us intimately. So He knows how hard it is for each person to overcome. So I think God judges more rightly than I can. For who am I to say a person should go to hell or heaven, I don't know the every detail of their hearts. God knows and I think we are told of His great mercy. So if I were pressed to a judgement I would lean on the side of mercy if Christ was in them at all. Some just can't overcome and we loose them. And it leaves me teary eyed to think this, but God has more mercy than we do so perhaps He judged their sorrow too much for Earth and took them to heaven. I cannot say, but I do know God is great in mercy and redemption.
