Could someone who knows a lot about this topic write a sort of basic primer, explaining the various terms - covenant, covenant of grace, etc.; what covenants there are in the Bible and how they fit into the scheme of things; and their application to our Christian lives today, and then get it posted as a sticky for newcomers like me?

Do you think this would be a good idea?

I think it's a good idea; I'm not sure if I could summarize better than the people who wrote these:

John Murray on a definition of Covenant, and a description of covenants in Scripture. (Don't worry, this is the longest one.)

Louis Berkhof (chapter 13, Summary of Christian Doctrine") on the relationship between God and man.

Charles Hodge on the Covenant of Grace

Could it not be perceived that such could be linked to a certain doctrinal position and therefore not appropriate in a general discussion forum?
