A study of how Revelation unfolds.

I heard a interesting teaching on the book of Revelation, thought I would share it. It was on some cassette tapes my mother has from a preacher/teacher named Dr. Floyd Jones. I will try not to make this extremely long, while keeping the intent of the teaching. Dr. Jones examines the pattern of Genesis, where GOD describes the creation days 1-7. He then backs up to fill in more information about the creation. He then applies this thought, to the book of Revelation. There is also a distinction between events happening in heaven and events happening on the earth. So, grab your Bible and follow along, and come to your own conclusion. This has been a fascinating study for me, and I hope it will be for you too. I would suggest taking notes when comparing the scripture, it will keep your reference points handy without having to relocate a particular verse.

Chapter 4 and 5 is what we will see right after the rapture and resurrection, the events described are what WE will all see in the throne room.

Chapter 6 starts just before the tribulation starts and ends with the physical return of CHRIST. The day of wrath. This is the very end of the tribulation. Notice how Chapter 6 is from the beginning to the end of the tribulation. Notice the pause, between the 6th and 7th seals, to fill in more information.

Chapter 7 God backs up to the beginning of tribulation, and fills in more information. The 144,000 are foretold, and the tribulation saints. Chapter 7 verse 9 parallels the 5th seal of Chapter 6 verses 9-11 (Both describing a heavenly event). Chapter 7 goes to the end of the tribulation.

Chapter 8 verse 1 according to the theory should have been the last verse of Chapter 7. Since the translators placed the verses in the chapters. This is an accepted possibility. Thus making verse 1 of Chapter 8 happening at the very end of the tribulation.

Chapter 8 verse 2-5 is a event happening in heaven. Starts after the beginning of the tribulation and ends at the end of the tribulation. This heavenly event parallels the earthly event of Chapter 6 verses 12-17. Here again GOD is going to the end, and then backs up to fill in more information, this time describing parallel events happening in heaven.

Chapter 8 verse 6, thru Chapter 9 verse 21, these are events that are happening on the earth. They start about a 1/3 of the way through the tribulation and end, near the end of the tribulation. This covers the trumpets 1-6. Notice another pause, this time between the 6th and 7th trumpet, to fill in more information.

Chapter 10 is a unique event. It describes a event near the end of the tribulation. There are possibly 7 more judgments via the thunders, but John is told not to write what was uttered down. We will have to wait to see.

Chapter 11 verses 1-13, backs up to the beginning of the tribulation, and fills in more information. This is the earthly event of the two witnesses. This ends at the mid point when the antichrist kills the two.

Chapter 11 verses 14 -19 is describing the very end of the tribulation. These verses parallel Chapter 8 verses 2-5, and Chapter 6 verses 12-17. These are the same event.

Chapters 12 and 13, back up to the mid point of the tribulation. Here we see the war in heaven where Satan and his angels are cast out of heaven to the earth. The economic and political system of the beast is put in place. The abomination of desolation is the beginning of these events. There are now 1260 days or 42 months (30 day months) till the return of CHRIST. The worst, in human history will happen in this time period.

Chapters 14 verses 1-5, the time frame of this event is not clear, but it seems to happen after CHRIST returns. Verses 6-13, happen during the last 1260 days before CHRIST returns. Here is a warning for those who take the mark of the beast, and a promise of blessing for those who don’t, and follow CHIRST, even unto death. Verses 14-16 this is the beginning of the separation of the saved and the lost at the RETURN of CHRIST. Here the saved are left. (Parallels Matthew 24, one taken one left verses.) Verses 17-20, these are the lost who have rejected CHRIST and have taken the mark of the beast. They are taken to a place called the great winepress of the wrath of GOD. This will most likely be the valley were all the worlds armies are gathered to fight CHRIST, and HIS armies at, HIS return. They are all killed here. This event parallels Chapter 19 were all the fowls of the air are commanded to feast on these bodies, Chapter 19 verses 17-21. Chapter 16 verses 15 & 16 also place this event in it’s proper time frame.

Chapter 15, this event happens in heaven, at the very end of the tribulation. We see the saints that died during the tribulation. (The same group we read about in Chapter 6 verses 9-11and Chapter 7 verse 9.) Here the bowls of wrath are prepared.

Chapter 16 with the severity of these judgments, where all water becomes as blood , I believe this is only a few days before the return of CHRIST. These are the last events just prior to the return of CHRIST, and the battle of Armageddon. The Chapter ends with a great earthquake. This parallels the sixth seal of Chapter 6, and the seventh trumpet of Chapter 11.

Chapter 17, happens during the 2nd half of the tribulation.

Chapter 18 though Chapter 19:1-10 happens right before the return of Christ.

Chapter 19: 11-21, happens as CHRIST and HIS armies invade the earth at HIS coming. All the armies of the earth along with all who are not saved are killed at this time. The anti-christ and his false prophet are both taken and thrown into the lake of fire. They will have the place to themselves for a 1000 years.

Chapter 20 happens at the return of CHRIST, Satan is bound a 1000 years here. The Chapter also tells of Satan’s release and the destruction of the lost at the end of the 1000 years.

Chapter 21 happens after the 1000 year kingdom.

Chapter 22 tells of the new Jerusalem, and the promise of a blessing for those who keep the sayings of the prophecy of the Revelation.

This may take a few times through with your Bible to get the full understanding of the theory. Once you see the pattern it may answer question that some may have. One of the obvious conclusions of the study. Is that the great earthquakes of the 6th seal, the 7th trumpet, and the 7th bowl of wrath, are the same event. It teaches a concurrent view of the seals, trumpets, and bowls of wrath. Where you have 3 separate groups of events that all have different beginning points, but all end at the same time at the return of CHRIST, instead of a consecutive view where the trumpets follow the seals, and the bowls of wrath follow the trumpets. After your study post your thoughts. Peace, but not yet.

Hello MARANATHA,
This thread is very interesting. I've never seen a study like this that breaks down the times of the events. I am not sure if we are to know the timing of the events though, but who knows? If so, I can see a couple things right off the bat, that are different from my view. It's also clear that the events go back and forth, which really makes it hard to figure out exactly when things will start to happen. But, I think he may very well be correct in the translaters putting the verses in the wrong places. This is very possible. A couple of years ago, my Great Aunt passed on. Of all the things she left behind, I chose to keep an old Bible she had. It was printed in 1936. This Bible had no verses numbered at all, and the paragraphs weren't as broke up as we see them today either. I will check this out more thoroughly later. Thanks MARANATHA

Thunder, Hello again brother

I am glad you find a interest here. I find it very interesting, I do base a lot of what I believe about the prophetic interpretation of scripture on this theory, but I do consider this A interpretation, and not THE interpretation. We still have much to discover. The event that sways me more to this interpretation is the 6th seal of Chapter 6. Here we see the 6th seal is the day of wrath. The very end of the tribulation. I have always asked, how can the trumpets and bowls follow consecutively after this, if CHRIST returns at the 6th seal. This is why I believe the concurrent view of the judgments. What will be really amazing is if the 7 thunders, are 7 more judgments, but we can’t know this and we will just have to wait and see. Thunder thanks again for your response. And when you find the time to really follow it all through with all the parallel references from your Bible, let me know what your thoughts are. Peace, but not yet.

Hi Maranatha, thanks for starting this thread. We just started a 4 week bible study on Revelation. So this is going to be really good.

About the jumping back and forth. My husband said that years ago, in a bible study he was in, it was brought up about the pages accidentally getting turned around while printing. (If I remember correctly) And that's why the jumping around. Supposedly by the time it was discovered, it was too late. I don't know.

Hello Rookie

There is so many events happening in Revelation, that either parallel and/or overlap each other, that I see no other way for the events to be described, other that having a start point, going to a recognizable, or specific day/event, which would be the day CHRIST returns, and then back up to the start point and fill in more information. This is how I see Revelation being revealed. As you get further through Revelation the starting point will get closer and closer to the end of the tribulation, which ends at CHRIST return. You will notice that the description of events will start at the mid point as the story unfolds. When you get closer to the end the start point gets closer to the end. When you get to the end of the tribulation, at the day CHRIST returns. HIS feet touch the ground. This causes the great earthquake that is described three times. The 6th seal , 7th trumpet and the 7th bowl of wrath. These are the same event I believe, and not three separate earthquakes. When you read to these points, you have come to the return of CHRIST. Now scripture will back up to the beginning or the mid-point and fill in more information.

These events are described as birth pains. Like a woman in labor getting ready to give birth. Labor pains start, being so many min. apart, with a little pain, but as time goes forward these birth pains get closer together with greater pain. The time between these pains becomes more and more frequent and with greater intensity in pain. Soon the birth pains are coming so fast they overlap each other with each pain more and more intense. Until finally the is a last great and intense pain, birth. Like a woman in travail ready to give birth. This how the judgments in Revelation will unfold. And I know you realize that once the contractions of birth, (these birth pains) start there is no looking back, something big is coming.

Of course this is not the most popular theory. The consecutive view is still dominant in most denominational settings. I also believe the consecutive view has caused the most confusion in understanding Revelation, but that is just my opinion. I hope this helps with your study of Revelation. Peace, but not yet.
