Here's a group that has contributed mightily on the influence of synthesized music in the New Age genre. I trio of keyboard musicians. Many soundtracks for movies to their credit, notably Risky Business, Legend & Firestarter.

I would think the label atmospheric music more appropriate, but that's just me I suppose.
