I don't give enough recognition to God...and I've been reminded of that this morning.
On my way to work this morning, I was inches away from being in a car accident. Too make it worse, I wasn't wearing my seat-belt (I know, shame on me). Too make it scary, the thought had crossed my mind, before leaving my subdivision, that I needed to have my seatbelt on. I'm not sure the seatbelt would have done much good, nor the airbag for that matter. The car was one of those SUV/Truck/Jeep type of vehicles. My car, on the other hand, is a little miata; little to the point where everyone (including myself) calls it the "little black speed bump". It wouldn't surprise me if he drove right over me...which happened to be the fate of the sign post instead. So, I give praise to the Lord for keeping me safe despite the fact that I was pointedly ignoring the law by neglecting my seatbelt. I give praise to the Lord for keeping the other driver safe. I stopped long enough to make sure that he was okay. He was shaken, but no harm to him and minimal damage to his car...the sign, on the other hand, will need to be replaced.
I have so many other things to praise God for: A wonderful woman, who makes it a point to follow the Lord, who will soon be my wife; my family, to which there will soon be an addition...my first niece among 3 nephews; my friends, job, health, etc. I could go on and on, but I won't bore you with details.
I also have many things to be ashamed of. I won't spill the beans here, that's not the point of this thread.
I would like to encourage two things:
1) If you've forgotten to give praise to God, or just aren't in the habit of doing so, then do so now. Do so often.
2) If you're in a wintry place, please be becareful when driving. Those roads are icier than we think and therefore the stopping distance is longer than it would normally be....and try not to hit the little black speed bump
