  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The physical body is just a shell - its like a "house" that houses your soul.

The soul is the "real" you. Its your heart, your feelings, your mind ... its the essence of you. The soul moves on to the afterlife. The physical body dies. The soul is what gets reunited with God. That is why the soul matters ... because its the soul that gets reunited with God - and its the soul that is a reflection of who one really is.

I also believe that the word "spirit" is the same thing as "soul."

Your soul is the part of you that is made in God's image. :) It is the part of you that God knows and sees, and it is what connects you to Him. The body? Not so much. It is the soul that is the repository of Divine Life. It is through the soul that we reflect the essence and purpose of our creation...love.

Peace be with you!

so just being catholic all my life i was wondering, what is a soul? i even went to a catholic school and no one told me, and i didnt ever really learn about that, and Jesus says the soul is the most important thing so... what is a soul?

It is the spiritual and immortal part of your human being. God wishes to fill your soul with love, life hope and happiness. It is the part of you that leaves the earth when you pass away.

Bleesings,

All of what has been said so far is true, however, we must also remember that the body, too, is immortal. That is to say, at the second coming our bodies will be raised, glorified, and reunited with our spirit in heaven.
