Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
Well, congregation forums aren't really supposed to be battle fields.
Is this what it's become?
technically I am not sure we need mods. Under the current system, unless it changes, members can see the reports anyway. We could copy the report to here and then weigh in as a group on whether there was a personal attack, which should be fairly objective, and then agree on a FSB on the third offense. Now the interesting part would be if they break the FSB and then we would need to involve someone in the staff chain.
As I understand it we currently have a lot of self-direction in our own forum.
Whether or not theistic evolution is allowed will still be part of the wiki discussion. So there is no need to discuss banning those outside of the 28 in order to accomplish what you are asking for, if the majority agree.
I think we still need mods, since they are able to keep track of reported posts better than we can.
As you can see, we aren't doing too well now without ACTIVE mods.
At times.
But then are you going to split the Anglican, Messianic, etc. forums?
This forum, like any, has gone through different periods. Sometimes there is fighting, and sometimes not as much.
Why can't we keep track?
Because we don't care to? No one has come forward to mod. The current mods don't seem to care.
We need to take responsibility for our own forums.
I'd let them decide that, as I'll let you decide whether to split up this forum.
Unless he changed his mind he left CF entirely.I still think we should get JtbDad back in here.
But there are a few in here who seem to have a talent for getting people into fights.
Such people ought to be dealt with accordingly. Unfortunately, nothing is being done about it.
That's it Woob, pass the buck. Never accept any responsibility for anything.
You just come out of this whole thing smelling like a fresh rose, don't you?
I think the answer is YES to both. What I'd like to know is whether the differences between the two groups are so vast to warrant their own forums? Or perhaps an equally important question, is the tension so vast to warrant separate congregations?
I think the answer is YES to both.
The doctinal differences have caused the tension. We have two groups and a few sub-groups that are so strongly opposed, I don't see any chance of reconciliation.
For the most part. Then I guess I don't quite understand your involvement. Were we not already deciding? I realize you came in response to some communication from a member. How do you see your role here? Is it just to confirm that it is possible as the forum creation guy?
For the most part.
I don't really know much about what's going on to form much of an opinion either way. The regulars here would know more whether this is necessary or not.
People in the churches I go to have doctrinal differences and don't break out into fights all that often.
So I don't accept that doctrinal differences mean there have to be fights.
But do they spam the boards with posts that constantly speak of the SDA church in a negative manner?
Do they constantly complain about 3ABN, Danny and Linda Shelton?
Do they constantly refer to those that disagree with them as being intellectually inept?
