  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

besides confession to a priest, if i have been attending a schismatic church for some time, and am a orthodox christian who plans on returning to the church, what should i do? not sure if i need to talk to the bishop or what? any ideas?

I was in your exact same shoes. I won't go into the details of my return (since they can vary from person to person depending on the circumstances), but I talked to the priest of the parish that I began attending and we worked it out.

From what I've seen, there's no need to talk to the bishop unless you are clergy. There's one lay person I know where it took one meeting with the priest, Confession, and the person was fully accepted back. Another lay person it took a couple of months before being fully accepted back. Each case is different, not to mention the person's sincerity/humility. So, best thing to do is to pray, talk to the priest at the church you plan on attending, go to Confession, and regularly attend the services there.
