This project by the Saudi billionaire, is about as unrealizable as the president
claiming that he will fix "inflation" and the high cost of living in America,
"on day one".

Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the leader of Saudi Arabia, has a huge dream
to make a modern living paradise in the middle of the Arabian desert.
Unfortunately, the original plan was infeasible, and the amount of corruption
(seemingly) in the project, is in the same category as Hitler thinking that he
would conquer Russia.

"Worse yet, an audit report reviewed by the newspaper found that officials were trying to fudge the numbers to hide evidence of the project's ballooning costs. The audit found "evidence of deliberate manipulation" of finances by "certain members of management."

It's a damning new development that highlights the grandiose and unrealistic goals set by Neom's main advocate, Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman."

It is a DANGEROUS thing when billionaires make HUGE promises, in order
to inspire their followers, and try to raise their own status in the world.

It is even WORSE, when those billionaires start to create blame groups, to explain
why their insane dreams were "foiled".

I read this article just the other day.

Classic case of someone who has tons and tons of money and power having a bad idea.
The person with money and power spends a lot of that money and power to try and make the bad idea happen.
Naturally, the people who are working on making the bad idea happen are getting the money to make the bad idea happen and they do not want tell the person spending the money it is a bad idea.
That's because he wouldn't listen anyway and might get upset.
Or, something even worse could happen.
He could listen and that would make the river of money dry up.

Since Saudi Arabia relies on oil for 30% of its GDP and 55% of government income, I'm reminded of a comment made by some Arab sheik on the radio or TV some years ago.

My mother heard it and told me that he said "My grand-father rode a camel. His son rode a bicycle. I drive a Camry (or similar car). My son drives a Cadillac. His son will fly a Lear jet. And his son will ride a camel."

Time will tell how accurate that becomes.

My first reaction to this article, was that it MUST be some sort of
JOKE.

But then, reading the article, I realized that there are people who are so
gullible, that they actually believe that this sort of massive "desert-sculpting"
would actually be possible (without water, etc.).

Now, I fear that a large number of poor people might actually BELIEVE this
fantasy, and waste their lives waiting for it to become true. That the Saudi
leader would stick to this sort of fantasy, is a comment on how many poor
Saudis are vulnerable to outrageous claims, that some leader will prepare
a new world, in which they can all live in prosperity.

This is the essence of the selling point for violent Muslim jihadism.
Desperately poor people, being promised that they can die, in order
to make some fantasy world come true. It's REALLY cynical!
