I was just thinking. We base our entire calendar system off christianity. It's 2012 so apparently 2012 years ago jesus visitied earth.

Before jesus apparently visited earth, the people were using a different calendar system which we now call BC. But half way through that BC calendar system the entire thing just stopped and started again form the year 0 (when jesus apparently visited)

So if we think from an athiests point of view and pretend jesus never visited, what the hell happened that was so significant to stop an entire calendar? mindfark.

Also lets pretend we never did base our current calendar off religion (including christmas etc.) Our current law system would NEVER accept a new calendar based off something that relates to religion. So what made an entire society 2012 years ago want to base there system off jesus? They wouldnt have even known about jesus before year 0 (would they have? not according to the bible) ... and then all of a sudden they just change their calendar in relation for something that could possibly be mystical?

Something would of have to of happened, they wouldnt just base their time system off a theory that can't be proved, they would've had to of seen something that convinced them all jesus was actually real.

So the only main explanation is that jesus really did visit.

Hi.

The calendar that was in use before ours counted from the founding of the city of Rome. It was not until several centuries after Christ--when the Christian religion had become the faith of the Roman Empire--that the dating system we use was instituted. But that required figuring back hundreds of years in order to place the year 1 at the year of Christ's birth (there is no year 0). The estimate was off by a few years, but this is the calendar we now use.
