  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Question to think about

I have a question. I know often times being amongst Adventists feels alot more like "family" than it generally does in other denominations, for example, you can go to any S-dA church in any country and still feel apart of the church. If that is the case, then why is the main reaason people leave the church because of relational issues with one another within the church, not because of doctrine? From what I've heard, those who do leave because of that reason believe that the S-dA church has the truth.

I'm not saying all do, but that that seems to be the main reason overall. I know of one fellow who prayed after he left the church (due to conflicts of personalities with church members), though he had no problem with the teachings, to take away his love of the church.

I don't think there is any one specific reason. Some leave because of beliefs, some leave because of relational issues, some leave because they just don't feel the church thing any longer... Some may leave because they grew up in the church, felt it was too restrictive and couldn't wait till they were old enough to make their own decisions about church, so they leave then....

Some leave happy, some leave ticked off... and some leave indifferent.... just depends....that's how I see it....
