A question to ponder

Hi,

Now pardon the pun but I know I am preaching to the converted. However I would like to pose a question, as to whether there is room within your Judo-Christian beliefs to adjunct a new system of belief. Providing this belief was complementary to your existing values but would be a New Age philosophy that would motivate and promote future scientific advancements?

Now with science have you ever considered the possibility that if the universe was created by a higher power, then the more in-depth you examine into things the more you will be provided to see. i.e. the higher power just keeps creating a larger veil.

Basically, if latest scientific thinking has it that Life has no function other than to 'continue living'.You could extrapolate this up into the basic functions
of mainstream religions where life is mostly regarded as sacred, with proclamations of thou shall not kill needlessly and some would say, even offering even the promise, of continued living in a fabled afterlife.

Now in a nutshell if you were to change the premise of life’s function to that of ‘increasing consciousness’(i.e. intelligence). You could say it is our destiny
to consciously impose this premise upon ourselves, as a noble endeavour and as a successor of biological Life’s premise of ‘just living’.

It’s a development on the alluring old theory, of what would be the point of the universe, if we weren’t around and capable of witnessing it.

Accepting this change in premise and leading on from there. How do we measure consciousness and apply it to higher life forms. If proposing that the ultimate
measure of consciousness is how well we can describe our existence. I.e. to create vocabulary to explain abstract scientific rules, principles and theories.

Now without language we may be able to create a flint tool, following the initial demonstration from a fellow Hominid. However you would need a fully formed
vocabulary to understand and lock in the mental processes required to fabricate more sophisticated items and co-operate with fellow workers on larger constructions.

With this assertion that life’s aim is to increaseconsciousness and that the process is in itself perceptive and progressive and linked with language. I know it, is really just playing to homo sapient vanity, in thinking evolution is always advancing in
complexity, as we are currently the most advanced in terms of consciously mastering our surroundings. In reality our complexity could all be a fortunate fluke
of nature but why not run with the delusion if it makes the world a better place.

Implement a timing schedule based for our advances based on processional progression. It is a system the ancients have already used and they are the religious
ages we are familiar with. It’s not scientific exactly but maybe a delusion, we can live with, which would give much excitement to our descendants in 2000 years
from now and could encourage continual improvement and
progression in the present.

OK what do we do with the old religions, governments, aristocracy, outdated traditions and families that have been unfairly gifted almost exclusive rights to
land and natural resources? Well, we bundle them all within the same group and term them the Authoritarian Elite and declare their values are now old and
outdated. However removing any individual reprehensibility or guilt for their supporting or benefiting from an unjust system by passing blame onto
a totally natural phenomenon of a Hive mind or progressive collective unconscious. It’s another delusion you would have to accept, as I do not even believe Hive Minds have even been proven in the insect world and it would be pushing it, to apply it to a
metaphysical collective unconscious that dictates the building of human society. However, if a mass of respected people were to write it eloquently enough,
more people would buy into the idea.

Improvement and change would be gradual, as by implementing processional progression as a timing schedule, you have around 2,000 years to implement
better structures and current leaders and religions will not be under the immediate threat of being overthrown and deprived of power.

I suppose if you followed it through to its conclusion, you are left with the choice of whether it’s moral or even worth the expenditure to colonise the universe with conscious, self-replicating machines. It would however create the ultimate lasting
legacy of the human mind. May be that is a question for another age.

It’s an interesting concept I hope you agree.

Here is some further reading if it wetted your appetite.

I'm sorry, what was the question?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

O.K. Nihilist, I hope you are still here as I see you are threatening to leave as the bufoons are condescending and antagonistic.

Well the post is as question of sorts as would you accept some delusions of a belief system, if such delusions, if widely held would lead to a better world.

Maybe a philosophy of Authoritarian v Libertariansim could be the answer?

Hope it makes you think.
