A Question of Faith

Greetings everyone. I've been on this forum for a couple of months now, so a few of you may have seen me here and there. I've had time to converse, to read, and to think about all the amazingly different points of view exist out there. Truly God paints with a diverse and vibrant brush.

Let me get to the point of this thread.

As most of you who frequent this particular part of the forum know, it is exceedingly difficult to find people of like mind in this world. It is even harder to find someone of like mind who may work as a partner for life. With all the ways people can look at things, the political, moral and personal views, it is a daunting task, to be sure.

I would like to broach a question which I've seen some comments about on here, but has never been directly asked:

What place does faith and trust in God play in your search for a relationship, and how much is up to you? I know it's not an easy question to answer, but I'm willing to hear your ideas.

Keep it nice and civil, and let's talk about this.

...coz i am single...and i am @ the moment..completely trusting God to bring my life partner along and am seeking his will.....For the 1st time i feel i have just given this situation to God...whereever he leads me.....

And i bliv is very important to wait upon God and c hu God's chooses for u and not comeone u want...no matter how attracted u r to them....well thats my opinion....

First off, I disagree with this statement:

At least for me, I can find folks that have similar views as me quite easily. They are all over the place, here on CF and here where I live. In fact, I am quite surprised at how often I run into people of like mind. That is not to say we agree on everything, which is good, as that helps each of us grow, by challenging our beliefs and putting them to the test. And disagreeing with you on this does not mean we are not of similar beliefs, necessarily, except on this point.

Faith, my faith and trust in God? That plays a prime role. When I take over, I screw things up. I've learned a hard lesson is this area.

I have great faith that if I am to be in a relationship, God will bring that person into my life at the correct time and place. That being said, I think sometimes we get too caught up in our own thoughts of how God will bring that person into our life; i.e we might get so caught up in looking for our prince on the white horse that we miss the duke on the brown horse. So some of it is our willingness to step out in faith and make a move. (if we've prayed about a situation/person.)

I trust that God has been holding me back when it comes to a new relationship because he wants me to have someone that is right for me in time and in place. If he didn't want what was best for me I would be all over the place like many of my friends are. He is being choosy for me and I like it. Sometimes I feel frustrated being single, but then realize that this is for the best.

Only when my focus is on Him is when I am ready for a relationship. When all focus is on Him, I find that life is much easier to bear.

it is a big, big deal. We are commanded not to be unequally yoked. I know I will not marry/date/court any one who is not in Christ. It would be hard for me to date someone who is not of my denominational persuasion.
