  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does scripture say about enlightonmint?

I don't think the Bible uses the term "enlightenment", but to be enlightened means to gain knowledge, wisdom, understanding, or spiritual insight.

"Enlightenment" usually refers to a specific kind of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, or spiritual insight that is gained, such as what "enlightenment" mean in Buddhism or the Age of Enlightenment, where as being enlighten is more of a general sense. The Bible talks about being enlightened, which is in line with what you quoted, but does not talk about "enlightenment".

Isn't the enlightenment that Yeshua(Jesus) gives us true and perfect enlightenment? Also isn't the enlightenment true salvation gives is far greater then anything? For we stand with YHWH who is grater then all things. All things are made alive in him. You are one with him, alive in him, and held in his grace. Shalom

Again, there are a number of different things that can be meant by "enlightenment". Would perfect enlightenment be perfect knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and spiritual insight? In that case, I don't have that yet. The Bible has such depth to it that we always gain those things even if we study it our entire lives. Does it mean having knowledge of the Messiah? In that case, I'm not sure I'd call it perfect enlightenment, especially as we can continue grow in our depth of understanding of things like salvation, redemption, forgiveness, justification, and sanctification. To me, it seems like reaching "enlightenment" is reaching the highest form of understanding, where there is nothing more left to understand, so I think it is better to pray for God to continue to enlighten our eyes to His instructions. Shalom.

the greeks believed that perfection implies limitations but a more christian viewpoint of perfection is an ever ascending as we believe that there is no end to the glory of God. with what measurement shall you measure reality with? paul said that there is an end to knowledge but he did not say that there is an end to love. enlightenment is always there but it is hard to talk about reality. maybe enlightenment from the souls viewpoint is being absorbed as much as possible in God, playing along with him in the kingdom of heaven. that is to live in the spirit but unenlightened peoples do evil unto others and don't know what they do for they are fools. that is why the government officials, the religious authorities and the crowds crucified Jesus. but in the vision in revelation we see layers and layers, first a multitude of angels without number, then 24 elders, then 4 living creatures and then in the middle the lamb slain before the foundation of the world.

Rev 13:7-8 (YLT)
and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation. And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;

Sounds like a Smart Phone, Satellites, Drones and/or computer Noxot :oldthumbsup: . With all that goes with it such as the devices themselves , the Corps that build them, the people that can not survive without it/bow, the language barriers/tongues have been stored in the device, the device can record voice, whereabouts , video and a non saint can wage war (like Syria) on Christians, Muslims across a sea and omit main stream media (AKA Classified) from facts.

It was given to it to make war on the saints. Technology / a form of enlightenment... Maybe...^_^
