Christians were martyred for writing what God told them to write.

And non-christians ("pagans") were "martyred" by the christians not being willing to apostate from their religion and become christian.

Do you really think that only christians have ever been killed for believing what they believed?

Christians were martyred for writing what God told them to write.

And they weren't afraid to put their names on their writings.

Nero erased their lives.

Scientists today try to erase their names and sterilize what they wrote.

And just about every other religion has some members that are able to claim the same. Your justifications are boringly similar.

So, the same Jesus that will come back one day to disprove evolution (apparently he lacks the power to do it remotely) is the only person for whom religious people are persecuted and martyred, correct?

Apart from the Snake Oil business, do you also sell bridges in your spare time?

Actually Jesus does a lot of stuff remotely, through the Holy Spirit. But I didn't even need that. I rejected the ToE without any help from God (I think). There was just something 'not right' about it. Still isn't right and even though the theory has been enhanced greatly over the years I still don't believe you can get from a simple life-form (is there such a thing?) to a complex organism through this mysterious process. Purposeful creation made sense to me even before I was called into the church.

How fortunate we are that we have come to realise the benefits of observing the evidence over adhering to beliefs.

I have observed the evidence as well, and have concluded that it was purposefully, and rather wonderfully, created.

Your vitriol against scientists and science is getting worse, AV. Why is that? Soon your post will sound like something out of Westboro Baptist Church.

I dunno, Matthew?

The gospels are written anonymously and written decades (40-150 years) after the alleged death of Jesus. Paul was the first to write about Jesus and he places none of it on earth. He doesn't know anything about the alleged life of Jesus. This is supposed to have been recent events and nobody told him about it. Either they forgot, it never happened, or it wasn't that important.

Either that, or he does.

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

You love your bible verses. Quote one thing from Paul that demonstrates that he knows anything other than a Crucifixion and resurrection. Here is one that shows he doesn't believe Jesus even walked on the earth:

Hebrews 8:4 "If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law."

He doesn't know. Wasn't all this supposed to be a recent event? How come nobody told him?

Here is one that shows he doesn't believe Jesus even walked on the earth:
After Saul of Tarsus was saved and became the Apostle Paul, we went to Arabia, and for three years was taught by Jesus Christ, Himself.

Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

And none of that indicates Paul made physical contact with Jesus. "By revelation"?
