If life has been on the earth for about 3 billion years. And observations tell us the moon is moving away from the earth, at a rate of 4cm a year,Than how do you suppose, useing evolutionary assumptions or uniformatarism, how those little creatures survived .I mean just turning the clock back to 2 biilion years the moon would have been aproximately 24,000 miles from the earth and just the tides alone would have been 1 million times bigger.Could life survive?

Where do you dig up these silly numbers from?

The 4cm a year is approx. correct.

But I see you are too limited to even get out your calculator and check the other numbers.

Lazy lazy.

Again, another example of wishing something to be true so checking the facts goes out of the window.

More Creationist silliness.
Your right i can be very lazy, i'll give you that one. I also took those numbers by faith.I think you will be surprised if ya see it yourself.
Here is where i got the information, See what ya think. There are a lot of variables in the equation, it will get ya thinking. http://www.scienceagainstevolution.org/v2i2f.htm

That website is hogwash.

On the very first page they don't even know how to use Kepler's 3rd law - they don't know that the angular momentum is proportional to the square root of the distance (though they do correct this later.)

What is even worse is the ridiculous example of the diagrams of the weight pulling the piston and working out the work done. THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG.

What an excellent example of Creationists and their lack of basic science skills.

If you want more details as to why this stuff is nonsense I'll expand more later.

QUESTION.

When are you armchair Creationists ever going to realise how STUPID these idiots are?

When are you going to get your science from people who know what they are doing as opposed to idiots who do not?
Well then, since your apparently more learned in this, i would callenge you to write them and show them the right way to come up with the answer. But i suspect that this is your way of dodging the issue. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that i know about what the enormous physics in finding these distances,or even any about calculus cause i don't, But what i want to know is why most of the scientific community will not even work the problem out for the general public. I think its because they know the answer would not agree with the current accepted theory that the Earth and moon have been here 4.6 billion years. They want to keep that quiet.Lastly i think you should take a long hard look at yourself,You spend alot of your time attacking peoples character and in so doing you mar your own.Your opinions of people mean nothing to me.I judge people by what i know of them not by what others say about them.If this is all your going to do then i want you to stay out of my threads. As a fellow christian i would give you this advice from the words of scripture, Proverbs 16:20 "Pride goes before destruction,a haughty spirit before a fall.

Tell me - do you waste your time contacting everyone with something you disagree with. Like most people I have a life. What is more, most Creationists even if you take the time to correct them just put their head in the sand and ignore you anyway.

Also, since they are such an easily ignored, laughed at minority - what does it really matter.

I don't attack peoples character except when it comes to their monstrous ignorance. What I do attack though is bad science being bandied around as fact.

What is as bad is people swallowing their nonsense because it happens to agree with some pre-conceived medieval world view. I believe you fall into this category. You posted the nonsense above YET admitted yourself you could not figure out one way or the other that it is bs.

Is that honourable? Is that the way we are supposed to conduct ourselves?

BY THE WAY - if you were observant - my long earlier cut/paste of an earlier thread shows you the correct way to come up with the real answer. I would not call that DODGING the issue.

Again you are making a PATHETIC appeal to some conspiracy of the scientific community.

As for 'your threads' - - AS YOU ADMIT YOURSELF you don't know anything about these subjects - SO WHY ARE YOU POSTING IT?
I like to share things with other people that i trust and interests me.They can judge for themselves what to believe. What you think is wise and what i think is wise is two different things. Be sure of this one thing I am not dumb i just have a different way of thinking then you. My posts to the best of my knowledge and reasoning are the Truth.I do not intentionally post lies.I trust my sources to tell me the truth, i study and use reasoning i look at conficting sources over the same subject i use reasoning and i decide from that what one i believe to be telling the truth. But even before all that I trust the Lord and His word. Many facts can be interpeted to support just about anything you can imagine. That i'm sure is just one of the reasons God gave us his Word. So we can Know the truth. People make mistakes all the time but one thing ive learned in this Creation evolution issue is Creationists will right the wrong(most of them) and be open to other theories as long as they do not violate Gods written word.but Most evolutionists are so closed minded that many of them sacrafice True science to hold onto there religion of Evolution. I say, that if areas of science seem to falsify the Word of God than its becuse science just hasn't caught up yet there is much to learn, But rest assured True Science will confirm the bible. Not reject it.

Would it be alright with you if i copied your answer and emailed it to them.

Quoth Freedom777:

People make mistakes all the time but one thing ive learned in this Creation evolution issue is Creationists will right the wrong(most of them)

That's actually exactly what they will not do. Duane Gish was shown umpteen times that his protein comparisons were wrong, but he carried on using them. Hovind has been shown many times his guff about buried WWII aircraft and mammoths is factually wrong, but it's still there.

and be open to other theories as long as they do not violate Gods written word.

That's the problem. They think that "a particular interpretation of the Bible" is the same thing as "God's written word". This is the root of their unscientific intransigence.

but Most evolutionists are so closed minded that many of them sacrafice True science to hold onto there religion of Evolution.

I'm calling you. That's an insult if ever I heard one. If you say again that I as an evolutionist have any religion other than Christianity you will hear about it. Word to the wise - for goodness' sake learn to spell and punctuate. To help you out, I've bolded the errors in that one sentence. You might then have a chance of coming across as having some intellectual credibility. Amazing that it's always the conservatives who whinge about declining standards of English in the state schools, isn't it? Do you get the message that you have really p!$$ed me off here?

I say, that if areas of science seem to falsify the Word of God than its becuse science just hasn't caught up yet there is much to learn, But rest assured True Science will confirm the bible. Not reject it.

And I say that until you disentangle "Freedom 777's Literal Interpretation Of The Bible" from "The Bible" your chance of understanding any real science is zilch.

Freedom, have you noticed that all the evolutionists in this forum are theists??

I say, that if areas of science seem to falsify the Word of God than its becuse science just hasn't caught up yet there is much to learn, But rest assured True Science will confirm the bible. Not reject it.
As Karl pointed out:
1. We are dealing with a particular interpretation of the Bible, not "the Word of God". If you look at the first quote in my signature, you see that Christians came to exactly the opposite viewpoint you hold over 25 years before Darwin published Origin of the Species.

2. "True Science", done by Christians, has already falsified creationism. Did that by 1831.

Nothing quite as rewarding as a good hearted discussion. Can't you just feel the love? Lets review;

If you say again that I as an evolutionist have any religion other than Christianity you will hear about it.

Threat If you disagree with the implications of anything I say, No matter how outside of scripture they are I will threaten you with who knows what manner of retaliation.

Word to the wise - for goodness' sake learn to spell and punctuate.

Criticize If I run out of legitimate discourse or just have none, I will criticize you for unrelated shortcomings. It helps me in making you look ignorant and bolsters my superiority.

To help you out, I've bolded the errors in that one sentence.

You might then have a chance of coming across as having some intellectual credibility.

condescension By doing so I illustrate how stupid you really are and how smart I really am.

Amazing that it's always the conservatives who whinge about declining standards of English in the state schools, isn't it?

Association Lets try and discredit you by association. All this is so relevant to the original proposition about the the moon though. Right?

Do you get the message that you have really p!$$ed me off here?

Anger A cousin to ThreatDo I need to elaborate?

More Condescention Dont you see? Unless you agree with me, you are incapable of understanding "real science". I will define the paramaters of "real science". If you fall outside of these parameters you are ignorant.

What is more, most Creationists even if you take the time to correct them just put their head in the sand and ignore you anyway.

Categorized bigotry I took a poll of all the creationists and I can categorically tell you what they all think and do. Try and overlook it though when I define the category that I place myself in like this:If you look at the first quote in my signature, you see that Christians came to exactly the opposite viewpoint you hold over 25 years before Darwin published Origin of the Species. or like thisHave you got the results of a survey of the beliefs of all scientists to give us, for instance? Or have you asked them all personally yourself? (There's a few hundred thousand around the world, by the way, so you'll have a job on.) Don't make assumptions; they only lead to prejudice. Also I should ask that you overlook the inference that you do not belong to my category, to wit Christians

Well, perhaps this is just an isolated example. Lets see if there are any other famous quotes on this forum. Ah yes, more loving discourse.

I don't attack peoples character except when it comes to their monstrous ignorance.

But I see you are too limited to even get out your calculator and check the other numbers.

Lazy lazy.

More Creationist silliness

There is seriously something lacking with you,

It's very simple. Don't worry, another 50 or so repititions to you and you might even get it.

So, why are you, an atheist, pretending to be Christian?

It's all ****.

Since I know you were not born on Antarctica, where you might not meet anyone of any Christian group, where have you been?

You just don't know any science and have no clue what you are stating.

I kind of feel sorry for you really!

If he's studying biology and geology at university he's got better things to do than read a load of thinly-veiled fundamentalist propaganda masquerading as science.

Or you could always read a few Jack Chick comics. About as reliable as anything any "creationist" ever wrote

it is so very easy to ridicule Creationists since their positions are invariably ill thought out charicatures of science that seldom pass even a cursory inspection.

I am unfamiliar with a single example of a Creationist who is a scientist worth his intellectual salt.

Almost to a man (or woman) they are worthless as scientists. Pretty much none of them are active researching scientists - they are usually people who left science once they left school or they don't have science qualifications to begin with - many of them are MD's or engineers wh usually would not know a scientific argument if it walked up and smacked them over the head.

They only people they fool with their pseudo-scientific nonsense are lay people who are impressed with a few buzz words and wouldn't know science from a stick of chewing gum.

If you do know science (even at an undergraduate level) their bs is easily recognised for what it is - bs.

Of all the so called Creation scientists I can think of very few that are in true scientific disciplines (biology, geology, astronomy) that directly impinge on the key Creation issues. And even these are people working in obscure backwater areas and institutions - not top of the line world class research institutions. Obscure Bible colleges don't count.

What is even more interesting is that several of these individuals publish work where they even use standard astronomical/geological time scales.

Is this false witness OR are they just making a buck of eager (easily conned) fundamentalists - LOL!

your average adavanced undergrad knows more general relativity than this clown.

What a joke of monumental intellectual stupidity.

in reality they are a bunch of idiots who could not conduct a scientific research program if their lives depended on it.

This is an excellent example of either lying or ignorance

Heck do you even know any science whatsoever?

All in all - pathetic!

Well now that was enlightening. Maybe we can get a slot on Jerry Springer.
I have been considering posting a question that I would sincerely appreciate the theistic evolutionists point of view on. I have seen some well mannered debate here but hmmmm.

OK, Hesalive - it seems you want war.

Nothing quite as rewarding as a good hearted discussion. Can't you just feel the love? Lets review;

If you say again that I as an evolutionist have any religion other than Christianity you will hear about it.

Threat If you disagree with the implications of anything I say, No matter how outside of scripture they are I will threaten you with who knows what manner of retaliation.

Nope. It means if you continue to libel your opponents and accuse them of worshipping other Gods, contrary to Rule 1 of this forum, you will get your next transgression reported, so that those of us who can debate in a civilised manner can continue to do so.

Word to the wise - for goodness' sake learn to spell and punctuate.

Criticize If I run out of legitimate discourse or just have none, I will criticize you for unrelated shortcomings. It helps me in making you look ignorant and bolsters my superiority.

Quite correct. I've often observed that the quality of English is inversely proportional to the tenacity with with YEC views are held. Make of it what you will. I know exactly what I make of it, and surveys of level of education and views on origins bear it out.

To help you out, I've bolded the errors in that one sentence.

You might then have a chance of coming across as having some intellectual credibility.

condescension By doing so I illustrate how stupid you really are and how smart I really am.

Yes. Sometimes we need some light relief in the middle of dealing with all the **** that the more - erm - enthusiastic and unreasonable creationists throw at us. We're only human. Play nice with us - e.g. respect the fact that we are Christians as well, and we'll play nice with you. Treat us like heretics and use spiritual blackmail, and as far as I'm concerned you're fair game.

Amazing that it's always the conservatives who whinge about declining standards of English in the state schools, isn't it?

Association Lets try and discredit you by association. All this is so relevant to the original proposition about the the moon though. Right?

Side observation.

Do you get the message that you have really p!$$ed me off here?

Anger A cousin to ThreatDo I need to elaborate?

You might want to think why I'm angry.

freedom 777 just want to encourage you. way to stand up for what you believe in! however, i caution you to pick your fights. some users on this website appear to be intent on berating and insulting every non-science expert in this forum. as for me i will admit i don't know much and posted one issue in the hopes of learning other's viewpoints. i did not expect such childish criticism in the replies i read in response to your posting. if people can not act as mature adults they shouldn't post replies. berating those who know less than you does not solve anything.

Quite so, although some of the worst don't regularly post any more. Good thing. I am fed up to the back teeth with the IfYou'reNotACreationistYou'reNotATrueChristiam(TM) cr@p that some people can't seem to avoid posting.

The Truth always hurts.

God is tired of all the words that are against Him but is still loving, and ready to forgive those who will repent, and believe His Scriptures without any interpretation other than The Holy Spirit. But that's up to the individual. Personally I find it a lot easier to believe God's Scriptures that all the words of men put together, cause they all lead to the actions of a loving Father. He has told us in so many ways the purity of His Scriptures, and He esteems them higher than Himself, and has warned us all against adding ANYTHING to them or taking ANYTHING away from them.

The awful Truth is no one regardless of what they call themselves will enter His Kingdom under any conditions but His, and He is comming for a bride with out spot or wrinkle.
