  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What provision did God give to the nation of Israel for justification, as in "right standing before God." 'Cause, they, like all of us, were sinners; seperated from God in need of reconcilliation. Was it the blood of the sacrifices or the future blood of Christ?

the answer should clear up alot for me.
Thanks,
Dave

Peter told them that the gospel that saved them was to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins in Act 2:38.

They were repenting of their UNBELIEF in their prophesied Messiah, and being WATER baptized as a REQUIREMENT, or demonstration of their FAITH in THAT FACT. This is how they were saved , or justified under the Kingdom Program. Of course, in GODS foreknowledge, HE SAW that it was the blood of Christ not yet shed that would actually save them, but that blood , ie: the DEATH< BURIAL, and RESURRECTION is NOT the message given to them that they were required to believe. They knew of the EVENT, but of the PURPOSE of the Cross and the preaching of the Cross as what saves, that was NOT preached UNTIL the "preaching of Jesus Christ ACCORDING TO THE MYSTERY which was kept SECRET since the world began..." Romans 16:25.

Please keep in mind that under the KINGDOM GOSPEL the Jews were NOT separated from God, but were betrothed unto Him. She was His wife. The covenant was a marriage contract between the Nation Israel and God Himself. It is NOT UNTIL God set them ASIDE for UNBELIEF, and took away their "favored status" that Israel became alienated as the rest of the nations. That is why God says "He concluded them ALL (gentile AND JEW) in UNBELIEF, so He could have mercy upon all." There was no reconciliation for the world UNTIL Israels favored status was SET ASIDE, and God ushered in the MYSTERY, which in ages and generations past was HID.

I hope this helps.

From Moses to the setting aside of the nation of Israel, God's instructions in righteousness were given to them through the Civil, Moral, and Ceremonial Laws of Moses.

Faith and believing/doing what God requires, at that point in time of human history, has always been the requirement for salvation/justification. Therefore, Israel was required to do the deed/works of the Law by faith in order to have any saving value.

Hope this is helpful.

God Bless.

Their salvation rested in faith in God and His promise of 'seed od the woman' first promised in Geneisi 3:15. They died in faith...but their salvation was realized at the cross.

That is why the4 author of Hebrews wrote:
Hbr 11:39 And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised,Hbr 11:40 because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.

For your question, read Hebrews 11

The answer is they were justified by faith through grace and trhat not of themselves--it was the gift of God and not of works lest they should boast. that is the way God has always justified sinners. and their justification was based on the death burial and resurrection of Jesus though they had no knowledge of it. The object of their faith varied at different times. For example in order to be saved at the flood-- on ehad to beleive the Wor dof God and get on the boat!!

During the dispensation of the law it was faith that the shedding of blood covered their sins. But in all times the saints knew it was God that was doing the justifying and as time advanced they also knew a redeemer was to come!!!
