A Question About The Book "Pigs In A Parlor"...

Those who have read this book, would this be a good book to ask my parents to buy me for Christmas?

My old pastor said it was a good book and that I should try to get it...
What's your opinions?

I was given Pigs in the Parlor as a gift among other books a friend of mine gave me. It is a good book to get to have to start out about deliverance ministry. Keep in mind there are some subjects that they go into detail. But its a very good book to have in your library. They even have a chapter on the subject of the mental disease Schizophenia about is it a demonic manifistaion or not. I'll post again when I get my copy out of my other library. To go into more detail the chapters it covers.

Hi there, I would recommend this book, I am involved in the deliverance ministry and when I started in it I felt the Lord lead me to read this book, I must admit it brought things out in my life I had to deal with. I then left the book for about a year and I felt a drawing back to it, I then borrowed it again from my pastor, since then I went out looking for it to purchase for myself which I have now done. I believe it is a handy handbook to have it you want to go into the deliverance ministry. There is another book out called "How to cast out demons" I'm not sure of the author, but the same author of Pigs in the Parlour did the forward of this book, and that is on my list for christmas. I strongly suggest you get it is definitely God inspired and it makes it so easy.

This book contains excellent information for those doing deliverance. I have used it for reference extensively for many years and the chapter on Schizophrenia has helped me see people set free

Overall, I think it's a good resource....

The biggest negative of the book is that much of the content is based on their experience in deliverance rather than scripture. I think there are times that they over-simplify some things and other times when they get overly complicated.

While it is good for reference, I would also accompany it with other good resources such as 'The Bondage Breaker" by Neil T Anderson. Some ministers well recognized for teaching on this subject include Derek Prince, Kenneth Hagin, Graham Powell and C. Peter Wagner. You may want to check out their material as well.

Just remember, this is an area where scripture paints the broad picture but does not give lots of specific details, so different ministers will have different slants on how to minister in deliverance. Who is right? Well, they all are. Remember, it's not about 'formulas' but about walking in relationship to Christ and in obedience to Him. He will have you minister differently at different times, but the underlying principles will remain the same.

Unless you've got the next three hours free. Trust me..you won't be able to put it down. The minister was Baptist (of all things!) and this book has remained in the top ten bestsellers for charismatic books for quite some time. I'm guessing the main one who really doesn't care for this book is probably you-know-who mad: ) You can order it off amazon and if you click on the new and used button, you can probably get it for about $5.00...

There are some doctrinal errors in the book, but all in all I thought it was ok. If it gets you thinking, and gets you going to the Bible, check it out.

I will most definitely check the book out... I'm also hoping to get some more Charismatic books... especially a book called A Divine Revelation of Hell by Mary K. Baxter.. that book I couldn't put down at all... it's a good book and would recommend any non-Christian and Christian to get that book.
