A Question About Satanists

The reason that people believe in any religion is that they get something out of it.
Primarily a well rounded life and some form of eternal payback in the afterlife. This
makes me wonder if Christians go to heaven then what happens to Satanists? Say you were a Satanist pedophile, or Catholic priest, when you die and you get to Hell is the dark one gonna greet you at the firey gates with a big smile and a line of 12 year old kids to screw?

Real, grown up satanists (as opposed to daft teenagers who say they're satanists because they like to wear black and it winds their parents up something proper) often don't exactly believe in satan as an entity. Nor do most satanists believe in heavan, hell or the Christian God. Satan is generally considered to be a sort of a life principle representing fertility, power and moral relavatism. Ever hear of Alistair Crowley - "Do what thou wilt be the whole of the law"

I understand that in most circles satanists don't actually worship Satan. But there are also people who do truly worship satan. I'm wondering what it is they're getting in return for said worship. Because it's pointless to worship a religion if you don't get anything out of it.

I think I see what you're saying. There is a small subset of people who argue that Hell is just a place without judgement, while Heaven is where the mindlessly faithful go, but I don't know much about all that.

Well I studied this a while back, and it seems they believe they're actually doing what god wants (although I've heard there are many types of satanists, I'm refering to the type I studied). They sacrifice people rather than animals because god is too good for animals...

I'm just glad I'm not some easily seduced fundy "All4god" televangelist of satanism... Bleh.

This is based on the misconception (thanks a lot, Dante and Milton!) that somehow Satan is merely the moral opposite of God and that he rules over Hell.

Not true. Satan is in the same boat as everyone else. He is in Hell to be punished because of his rebellion. Hell is not his home and it's not his kingdom, it's his prison.

Not true. Being faithful, in and of itself does not get you to Heaven. It is not the measure of man's faith that gets him to Heaven, but the object of his faith.

You can have all the faith in the world but if your faith isn't in Christ and His atoning work on the cross it's meaningless.

Aside from the obvious moral problem of sacrificing people, how can they say that this is what God wants when God abolished the sacrificial system?

I wouldn't call Crowley any kind of satanist. Thelema is not Satanism.

Anyway, the modern Satanists are just a bunch of humanist goths trying to be jerks by adopting a willfully misleading name. "Real" Satanists generally have very weird and shoddy theology...

No, actually, they're not. Religious Satanists don't believe in the Christian concept of Satan, as a quasi-deity, but they believe in what he (Satan the archetype) represents. Satanists tend to look at the Christian God as something that wants humankind to exist in blissful ignorance, blindly following what they're told without thinking for themselves. Satan is the opposite of that. The cardinal sin of Satanism is stupidity, & many of them feel that Christians allow themselves to be dominated because they aren't smart enough to question anything, simply for the benefit of their version of God. The majority of real Satanists are adults, & don't all religions have "little groups of people with common interests"?

This little group of people you're referring to are what is known as "dabblers", who don inverted pentagrams & all black & proceed to call themselves something they are not, simply because it irks their superiors, or "scares" people.

I wouldn't call Crowley any kind of satanist. Thelema is not Satanism.

Their theology isn't weird, as it were, just different. Religious Satanism focuses on the carnal rather than the spiritual. It really isn't that complicated.Actually, Anton LaVey (a la "The Church of Satan") chose the term Satanist simply to prey on & ridicule people's irrational fear.

As an aside, there are quite a few "goth" Christians, but more of them are actually Atheists or non-Satanist Pagans.

There are Satanists who perform a "black mass", but it simply a mockery of the religion of Christianity, since many satanists look at Christians as "unintelligent sheep". While they aren't exactly the most compassionate of folks, they aren't inherently "evil".

If someone actually claims to "worship Satan" as an actual entity, which is rare, there really isn't much "religion" to it. It's usually someone "mad at Christianity" who wants to claim to be a "Satanist" simply for the shock factor. Likened to the "jerks" & "sub-humans" referred to previously. Real religious Satanists have a big problem with that.

Oh, and just for the record, religious Satanists don't sacrifice ANYTHING.

K-their genes won't "mingle" with yours unless you have sex with them.
Everybody talks about how horrible life is at one time or another, and while they need to get over it, they don't deserve to die for it.

Satanism is no worse of a religion than Christianity or any other. It's simply a different way for a certain group of people to look at life. None of them harm you directly or indirectly, or affect you in any way whatsoever.

Everyone who "annoys" you doesn't deserve to have a "bullet in the head". Your lack of punctuation & horrible grammar annoys me to no end, but that doesn't mean I'm going to kill you. Thinking that you have that right, or even wishing that you did is a very warped sense of reality.

Well, Christianity scared the HELL out of me when I was a little kid. (or was that scared the hell into me.....)And it still employs scare tactics to get converts. They like to put the "fear of God" in you. It's very scary when you have it drilled into your head from birth that you were born sinful & that you had better do everything that those people who wrote the Bible tell you God said or you're going to go to Hell & burn for all eternity. Incidentally, a lot of Christians like the color black....and nuns and priests wear all black & white.
