The common idea/theme/mythos/whatever about heaven includes it is free from sorrow and worry. I don't personally believe in heaven but say there is one I know for sure my mom is headed there. So my mom is heaven waiting for her loved ones, say I don't live the Christian life and I am headed down below. Is my mom supposed to be worry-free when I no-show upstairs. Should we assume that we lose all attachment to anyone but Christ when we enter or is worrying, pain, struggle, and sorrow inherent in any human experience even in the presence of God, in his sacred kingdom?

it was a good question and had me stumped

It's a very good question. I don't believe the Bible says very much about this.

I think that the Bible does mention that when one comes to Christ or one comes back home to Christ, that all of the angels and saints in heaven rejoice along with the Father. So, perhaps, when one does not make it home back to Christ, there probably is some kind of sadness and lots of praying.

I also believe that part of being in heaven is understanding "perfect" Godly love and having perfect Godly love. So that because of this wonderous gift of love, somehow, I believe that even though our loved ones in heaven may grieve for those who do not make it into heaven, that they find a way to make their peace with it.

This is a very spiritual question. I believe this question is in the category of "unknown mysteries".

I don't know if this helps, but I pray that it does.

God's Peace

The answer to the question is found in the book of Revelation.

It says in Revelation that at the end of time when Jesus returns that the saints in Heaven will have consolation (Rev. 21:4). This is after the first heaven and the first earth had passed away (Rev. 21:1).

But before then, it shows us in Revelation 6:10 that the saints in heaven are very much concerned about the battle going on down on earth between good and evil and that they even offer our prayers up to God on our behalf (Rev. 5:8).

As far as how someone in heaven won't be upset that some loved ones maybe didn't make it to Heaven, only God knows how this will happen. Who knows, maybe God erases our memory of them. With God, all things are possible (Matt. 19:26).

But know that God doesn't send anyone to Hell. People send themselves there. People who go to Hell are the people who don't want to serve the Lord. The spirits in hell are ones who would turn heaven into hell if they were given the chance.

If in your heart you want to serve the Lord but you are not perfect then Purgatory is a purification process for those who need some cleaning up before entering into Heaven.

“For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw -- each man's work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.” (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)

The concept of heaven and hell have to do with being in God's presence...but God is everywhere.

The only logical explanation is that what makes heaven "heaven" for some and "hell" for others is the individual soul's awareness of God's presence.

It could be like the mother and child attending the opera--the mother swept up in the music and pageantry and emotion, the child thinking, "Why are these crazy people running around singing in a foreign language?"

So the mother's and child's souls may even be in contact, and run into one another, and if it gives the mother perfect happiness, she could continue to 'mother' that child who is unaware of God's presence and offer what comfort she could.

We don't really know.

Before i first became a believer, i was going trough a very difficult time with depression, and i meet this elderly lady who used to do some kind of spiritual healing, the type of person that can lay the hands on someone to heals them...

and at the time i was searching and searching for some kind of spiritual path but not yet become a practising christian/catholic (i was born and baptised catholic but was never a practising catholic), and when I spoke to her, i asked the same question, and by moving very close to me, kind of making me feel as if she invaded my private space really close to me, from the bottom of her soul she asked me, if i had anyone close to me like a family member for example that has departed from this life, and I said yes and she assured me that such people do intercede for us and our salvation and that i should not worry about such things but believe in GOD... i never found out what religion she followed but her comforting and caring words really helped me at that precise time.
