?So they are praying to a dead person and not to God!Can I just say that..they're praying to the person that's represented by the statue, not to the statue itself? I go to an Orthodox church and we use icons to worship, but we don't actually worship the icons..we worship Christ and venerate the Saints that are represented in them. It's the same with the Catholics

God doesn't want you to do that! Channelling the spirits of people who have died is an abomination!!!the Saints are alive in heaven, they are not dead. We are all one in Christ, we are all family
just like we ask our friends to pray for us on earth, we can ask those in heaven for prayers. They all go to God in the end.
God bless

ok but I don't need to contact anyone in heaven save for Jesus Christ my Saviour. That's good enough for me.NoDoubt, I can assure you that no Christian does this when we ask the saints to pray for us.channeling spirits is something entirely different.

1 Timothy 2:5 There is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.
I just rely on THE BIBLE....I pray to Jesus all the time toobut I was just trying to say that there's nothing wrong with praying to saints..this was practiced in the early church, and then for thousands of years afterwards
it's only recently that people began to think that it's wrong.
Look what the early Christians said about intercession of the saints:
Cyril of Jerusalem
"Then [during the Eucharistic prayer] we make mention also of those who have already fallen asleep: first, the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs, that through their prayers and supplications God would receive our petition . . . " (Catechetical Lectures 23:9 [A.D. 350]).
Ephraim the Syrian
"You victorious martyrs who endured torments gladly for the sake of the God and Savior, you who have boldness of speech toward the Lord himself, you saints, intercede for us who are timid and sinful men, full of sloth, that the grace of Christ may come upon us, and enlighten the hearts of all of us so that we may love him" (Commentary on Mark [A.D. 370]).
The Liturgy of St. Basil
"By the command of your only-begotten Son we communicate with the memory of your saints . . . by whose prayers and supplications have mercy upon us all, and deliver us for the sake of your holy name" (Liturgy of St. Basil [A.D. 373]).
there are lots of others as well
God bless
