  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello everyone :)

Firstly id just like to thank you for taking the time to read this :)

Now i am a strong Christian, i am going into ministry after school and i strive to be like Jesus as best i can in all the aspects of life....

Now i have this friend, lets just call her jess, and she is a good friend, even more than that, and we have just started our relationship, as more than friends . (and this topic isn't about that)

But my problem is that she just told me that she isn't really a strong Christian, and "has heard all of the facts and reasoning, but shes just a skeptical person, and she cant help that" and i did my best to try and convince her to ask me what she was skeptical about, to see if i can help...but to no avail....

Any advice on ways in which i can bring her closer to God without jeopardizing our friendship.

Confused :)

God bless

Mike

Mike...

She is having doubts, and that isn't unusual.. I think we all go through periods like that..

The best thing you can do is pray for her, but also be a strong witness to her.. in the way you conduct yourself, in the confidence you have in your faith.. help her to see how God has worked in your life, and give her encouragement in her walk..

The Holy Spirit works in each of us differently, and at different speeds... help her grow in her walk, without making her feel pressured or guilty.

Hope that helps..

Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you need to chat

Make sure that she always knows what your goals are. It's her decision to decide whether she's able to live with that (eventually). If she's not realistic about it, that's her responsibility.

It would be great to bring her good news and hope for her future, but make sure it doesn't turn into an acceptance/rejection issue, an "almost good enough" effort. or a subconscious plan that you will eventually make her fit into your plans.

You both need to accept each other as you are, and if her strengthened faith follows, that's great.
