Why are churches run by a group of elders ? why where so many societies and tribes governed by elders?
Simply because wisdom comes with age and experience, the ability to make reasoned decisions without the impetuosity of youth leaves the issues un clouded and because we where not indoctrinated through our school years to believe that 16 unaccountable, non elected eurocrats along with their numerous unaccountable unelected presidents locked in a room knew what was best for us and should be able to make laws affecting every aspect of our lives that cannot be challenged or repealed as well as a parliament thats effectively neutered as all it can do is debate and vote, it has no power to enact laws or repeal them, even if thats what the people want.
Your grandfathers and great grandfathers fought and gave their lives to defeat one european dictatorship over 60 years ago and we the older wise ones could not see why you would blindly and happily give more and more power to another dictatorship and consign us to a future where democracy is only paid lip service whilst un elected un accountable officials dictate our futures from behind closed doors.
Not only this but also tying us to a sinking ship, the German banks are facing crisis and according to the IMF the eurozone is on the brink of collapse with Greece,portugal, spain and others needing constant bail outs & more and more eastern countries joining and taking scant resources from the EU which incidentally has never been able to balance its books, freedom of movement has been an unmitigated failure resulting in mass immigration thats overwhelmed local resources and culture clashes that have in particular resulted in assaults on thousands of women and children.
When we voted to join the EEC in the 1975 referendum it was a European Economic Community, a free trade agreement between European countries making imports and exports easier for our companies but it quickly took more powers for itself demanded obeyance of more and more rules which soon became laws, laws with serious penalties and our leaders sleepwalked us into a nightmare where our laws and rules where overruled by those from Brussels, they gave away our traditional fishing grounds and in doing so destroyed our millennia old fishing industry, destroyed our farming industry and most of our heavy industry compounded by selling of our national infrastructure to the highest bidders in Europe.
Us wise older men and women have watched this all happen in our lifetimes and seen us fight for the scraps fallen from the table of Europe whilst paying billions for the privilege.
The EEC quickly morphed into the EU and took more and more powers without the agreement of the British people, it became a monster that we had no control over, every single veto or objection we raised was ignored or voted against, we never won a single argument.
And when it came to Cameron negotiating he went with fixed promises of the deal he wanted and came back with nothing and lied, scaremongered, and based his whole campaign on the hope that we would be to frightened to stand up to our masters in Brussels.
But he was wrong, we saw through the lies, ignored the scaremongering which if anything only stiffened our resolve, especially when others like Obama tried to threaten not to trade with us. we knew this country can thrive without the EU because we have thrived without them before, the simple fact is they actually need us more than we need them.

Agreed, the older people remember the promises made back in 1975 of the advantages the EEC would bring and how none of those promises came true, just the opposite in every case.
We were told it was just a referendum to remain in a free trade zone and no supra state was being planned whatsoever that it was just scare mongering.
Turned out it was planned and it happened.
And that British car makers would have bigger markets to sell to. No, that didn't happen either.
Sorry about the confusion, I was practicing a pro EU stance because it was a big issue with my relatives, but really the evidence is anti EU.
The EU has been nothing but a huge strike breaking force to push down British worker wages, which it has, and to allow the Germans to buy all the profitable technical industries in Britain.
A flood of Polish electricians bribed to come over by the British government totally destroyed my career and forced my departure from Britain to the US where things are a bit better for the working class.
Maybe I shouldn't be here anymore.
