  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hmm I did not know the Catholic Church recognized the apostolic succession of the Old Catholic Church, intersting, thanks for sharing Fr. Rick
Yep... we are classified as one of the "true particular churches" under RC canon 844.

If you look in the back of your missal at church tomorrow, you will find instructions on receiving communion-- who may or may not receive, etc. There you will find the Polish National Catholic Church listed by name, along with references to the Assyrian and other churches. They are the largest OC jurisdiction in the US.

Fr Rick rocks

He was one of the first people I got to knw on CF when i jined three years ago.

He was struggling manfully to uphold one end of an evolution/creation debate, and I pitched in alongside him.

Bit older and wiser now and I avoid those things but it was great fun back then

Somehow along the way I stumbled across the OC's. I began to do some research, and found that they were almost a "hybrid" of the RC's, the EO's, and the Anglicans. They are more 'open', in that sacraments are available for all baptized Christians (like the Anglicans)... they are western in culture (like the RC's)... and they are more open to "mystical" experiences (gifts of the Spirit) like the EO's. It was just the right fit.

Sounds like the ultimate combo~too bad there are no Old Catholic congregations in my area :(

Andy is everywhere, I love the guy, I see you in OBOB, I drop by the Baptist sub-forum and check out a nifty little thread about ghosts and guess who I find?

lol.I get around a bit:)

I landed in OBOB because I do a lot of night shifts and thats the only pace you really find peole at 3am UK time, so made lots of friends there. I am Salvatinist by 'trade' so hang in Cyber Corps for that reason, I'm not sure what took me to STR but I spend a lot of time there, and I have recently started attending a Baptist church so now hang there as well.

Among other places.;)

Don't think I won too many popularity awards in the ghosts thread though...lolol

What part of the country are you in? I may be able to find something in your area.

Uh oh... don't say that "refuge" word too loud around here!;)
This is an interesting "joke" that I don't find too humorous or tasteful given the circumstances that you're aware of.

Well... you weren't the one I was joking with.
Given the circumstance the issue is that you made ANY JOKE with anyone close to 1/2 an hour after the incident.
Kinda telling (as some other things have been).

By "the incident", I'm assuming that you mean Time's ban.

Since I know that his outspokenness against BeMi had little, if anything, to do with the ban... then I know that there was nothing in my comment that was untoward. You might want to back down a minute to realize that a) not everyone has ill motives and b) there are many factors in that situation of which you are not aware.

And now... can we return to the OP instead of getting into yet another debate over that mess?
